WHO ARE WE

We are Thiago and Rachel Souza, missionaries with Youth With a Mission (YWAM) since 2006. We are a Brazilian missionary family who live and serve in full time ministry with our 2 kids, Jessica and James in England. We feel called to remain in the United Kingdom to be able to carry on what we have been doing.  In order to extend our time here we need to apply for new visas, but this is costly. For a family of 4 we will need to raise £7,240. CAN YOU HELP US?

Thiago is another one of the incredible, self-supported, full-time Christian Workers we partner with. Thiago uses photography to help equip people with a way to tell stories of God's love to a new generation.

Here is a little of who we are as an organization and how our personal ministry fits into it:

WHAT IS YWAM?

YWAM is a global movement of Christians from many cultures, age groups, and Christian traditions, dedicated to serving Jesus throughout the world. We currently work in more than 1,100 locations in over 180 countries.

We are currently serving at YWAM Harpenden where our main focus as a campus is to impact the world with the gospel of Jesus by equipping, discipline and sending out missionaries into all the world. In order to be more intentional and effective in accomplishing our goal, we have made a commitment to send out short and long term teams and support local ministries in the following countries: Turkey, Uganda, Albania, Jordan, and the refugee crisis. Currently we have 120 staff, from about 20 nations, serving in 14 different ministries.

WHAT WE DO?

Communicating the values and principles of the Gospel is something we are passionate about. That is why Thiago currently serves on the campus communications team where his roles range from creating web site and social media content (letting people know of training and mission work opportunities), to directing weekly live streams with one of the Elders  of our mission Lynn Green (where multiple subjects that are relevant to our day and age are addressed with a biblical perspective.), to  assisting in pioneering the campus tv and music studio.

Thiago also leads a 3 month course of STORYTELLING AND PHOTOGRAPHY  where  students learn how to tell stories through images. They also address the transformative impact story telling can bring forth in individuals lives, communities and nations. Our vision is to train and equip the new wave of Christians and missionaries with visual communications skills inspired by the Word of the Lord, through training programs of the University of the Nations. We feel called to remain in the United Kingdom in able to carry on what we have been doing.  In order to extend our time here we need to apply for new visas, but we can’t do that by ourselves.  Would you pray about to being an answer to our need?

It is our great pleasure and privilege to have Thiago Souza and his family as part of our YWAM Harpenden community.  I work very closely with Thiago and he is indispensable to me.  I have a deep desire to communicate more and in better ways to all of YWAM and beyond.  When I was first commissioned to communicate more and more intentionally, I did not know how I would manage to do that, but then God sent Thiago and Rachel to live here. 

Thiago is very knowledgeable and skilled; he thinks strategically and has an amazing ability to navigate through all kinds of communication tools and technology.  Because Thiago works alongside me, I can focus on my part, which is creating content and Thiago thinks through strategy, takes initiative, tests the effectiveness of different approaches and steadily increases the number of people reached. 

Since he began to work with me, we have seen the number of views on our website grow to be nearly five times as much as I had before Thiago came.  In addition to that, he has developed several other social media platforms.  Thiago and Rachel are good stewards of finances and live principled lives so I warmly commend them to anyone who wishes to take an interest in their ministry and especially to those who would be able to support them on an ongoing basis.
