The outpouring of love and support from near and far has been truly overwhelming. So many of you have reached out asking how you can help Blakely and the Somers family and in response, we’ve created this page to make it easier for those who want to support them during this time.
A note from Kevlyn and Ryan: While our family is incredibly grateful for the financial support offered to us, we also feel strongly about giving back to the community. Any contributions made will go directly toward covering Blakely’s medical expenses and supporting her needs throughout her journey to recovery. Should donations exceed what is needed for her care, the remaining funds will be donated in Blakely’s name to Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital.
On September 25th, Blakely went in for a routine surgery to remove her tonsils and biopsy a lymph node in her groin. What Kevlyn and Ryan never expected was to hear the next day that their sweet Blakely had been diagnosed with cancer.
Blakely has been officially diagnosed with Stage IV T-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma. While the news was a shock, we are incredibly encouraged by how well she is already responding to treatment and her medical team is very optimistic about her prognosis.
If you know Blakely, you know she’s been a joyful warrior since day one. She’s facing this challenge with her incredible strength and sweet spirit. We have no doubt she’s going to beat this.
Over the next month, Blakely will be staying at Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital as she undergoes the initial phase of her treatment. After that, she’ll continue outpatient chemotherapy for the next 2 to 2.5 years. Despite everything, Blakely remains her cheerful, snuggly self and being able to have visits from her sister Adalyn has brought her so much happiness.
As you can imagine, this journey has brought about a whirlwind of change and required an incredibly fast adjustment for the Somers family. Kevlyn and Ryan are deeply grateful for every message and every prayer. Your continued love means the world.
