Marcellina and Justin Simeons Story
Donation protected
Justin Simeons came to the U.S from Myanmar in 2006 after his marriage to Marcellina David. After arriving in the U.S, Justin and Marcellina had two children, Terence, age 7 and David, age 4. Both worked full time to provide for their family. Justin was a lab technician for a pharmaceutical company and Marcellina works at the Port Washington Public Library.
In March of 2014, Justin went to St. Francis hospital with abdominal pain and was diagnosed with last stage liver cancer. Initially they had given Justin 3-4 weeks to live, however, the family was fortunate enough to find an oncologist who was willing to take Justin on as his patient and Justin lived for 1 year and 7 months after his diagnosis. Throughout that 1 year and 7 months, Justin and Marcellina dealt with many setbacks not only from the debilitating side effects of the chemotherapy and the spread of the cancer, but also from Justin not being able to work. There were certain days where Justin could barely get out of bed because he was in so much pain. But he always pushed himself to do the best he could with a smile on his face for his wife and children.
On October 29th 2015 Justin was taken to the hospital for excruciating pain. On October 31th 2015 Justin passed away in the hospital with his family and friends by his side. For Justin, family meant everything to him.
It has been difficult living in Port Washington, NY with two children and a very sick husband on one salary. Marcellina has been working in the Port Washington Public Library for more than 10 years. Her co-workers and the patrons that visit the library have become her second family. Since March of 2014, the medical bills have been rapidly accumulating. Marcellina would be sincerely grateful for any assistance at this time to enable her to immediately lessen the financial burden that has been placed upon her. Any amount would be greatly appreciated and would be put towards the medical bills only.
Marcellina would love nothing more than to continue to live in this amazing community that has consistently supported her throughout her difficult ordeal, especially now when she needs them the most.
Marcellina and her family are truly appreciative and thankful for all the support, well wishes and love they have received from friends, family and the community.
Thank you so much!
