Get me to California - The Shifter
Donation protected
My name is Petie Chalifoux. I am a Sakaw Iwihnowuk (Woodland Cree) First Nations woman and a 4th year film student living in North Vancouver, BC.
I am reaching out to you and asking for your help to get me to the American Indian Film Festival (AIFF) in San Franscisco. My short dramatic film titled 'The Shifter' has been selected to screen at the 40th annual AIFF November 12th, 2015. And only a few days later The Shifter will be screening in Los Angeles at the LA Skins film festival on November 15th, 2015. I am very excited as this is my first time submitting my short film into festivals and it has been accepted into 2 of them! The Shifter tells the story of a young Indigenous woman who finds her true power in the midst of violence and darkness.
The Shifter has a message that the world needs to hear. Being at AIFF & LA Skins in person to represent myself and the film as an up and coming Indigenous woman filmmaker is meaningful.
Your financial contribution will be used for transportation, meals and accommodations.
I am very excited for this opportunity and I do hope you will help me get there. Thank you for your time and your contribution. I am grateful for every dollar donated.
In return for you contribution, you can follow my Facebook page titled, 'The Shifter' for daily updates during my journey to California, the people I meet and, you can also witness my experience at AIFF40 + LA Skins all captured through a series of short videos. You can also claim a private viewing of The Shifter after the festival.
