Whats up, everybody! If you don't know me, I'm JMix.
And I am the host of The Self-Aware Millennial Podcast.
I am a jack of all trades when it comes to creativity: I sing, I dance, I act, I draw, I make music, I'm a content creator, I draw, I roller skate, etc. I do anything that I set my mind to, and I do it with my whole heart. Just ask any of my dearest friends and family. I'm here because I need financial assistance with something that means a whole lot to me and my creative well-being and mental health.
I started The Self-Aware Millennial Podcast in February 2020 as a means to reach open-minded individuals who are on their journey to self-discovery and self-affirmation. I wanted a space for people like myself to normalize millennial-centric topics that are commonly glossed over and uncomfortable to discuss on a mainstream platform. Since February, TSAM has reached audiences in 300 U.S. cities and 25 countries around the world. My guests, listeners, and I have made important discoveries about ourselves that would not have otherwise happened had this podcast not been in existence. I am aware that this platform is needed and that it has the high potential to bring in audiences of all backgrounds and cultures to explore the depths of our humanity in a safe-space.

With the recent loss of income from my previous job and being unemployed in Louisiana during the pandemic ($200/week does not cut it), I still want to dedicate my time and energy to this podcast and not be stressed about my upcoming bills for the next few months. I am also working to hire a small creative team to take care of post-production edits and to help me curate ideas for future episodes for my audience to enjoy. I want to raise $5,000 by the end of 2020 to help me pay for these essential needs that I must have to make this happen.
I wasn't gonna bring my skin color into this- but it's important.
I can't hide the fact that I am a black woman living in the United States of America. Right now we (black women) are ALL going through A LOT to be respected in a country that does not value us like we deserve. It took a lot for me to create this fund as I have always been that person who felt that I did not need anyone to help me succeed- That I could achieve similar financial stability as my white counterparts by emulating the same activities and achievements as they do.
I have learned in the last year the true meaning of "closed mouths don't get fed."
I am putting my pride aside and asking for your help to make the future of my black life less worrisome and stressful through the funding of this podcast. The Self-Aware Millennial has been a blessing to myself and countless others. Your contribution to my creative, self-aware journey with TSAM Podcast would make my year.
