Loosely based on true events, the film touches upon the complex concept of intimacy when dealing with depression, the taboo of mental illness and the importance of self-love. How you ultimately can't love the world if you can't love yourself first.

The amount of people, particularly young adults, dealing with anxiety, depression and lack of self love is growing in this high tech world we live in. We hope that this film will bring attention to the importance of both mental health and not being afraid to speak up about it.

Synopsis: The Sad Poet is about a sad man named Jerry, who falls in love with a poet through her online poetry, disrupting his long-term relationship with his girlfriend, Hannah, and changing his perspective of what is real.

The sad poet is a figment of Jerry's imagination. Eventually, she becomes realer than he could ever imagine, blurring the lines between what's real and what isn't.
