Please meet our good friend Therese:

For those who don’t know her she would be best described as selfless, strong, warrior, beautiful inside and out, loving, athletic, and caring. Therese is a beautiful soul and an amazing mother of two amazing children. Therese is an avid runner and gardener who loves the outdoors.

Therese is always the first to give to others, her heart is so big, often times we don’t know where she gets all her strength. Her generosity supersedes anyone we know... she has visited the Dominican Republic numerous times to help build homes with a nonprofit organization, she is the first to arrive at your home with flowers and food when you are feeling down, the first to donate to a Go Fund me page just like this one, and the first to offer her help when you need it most! Even when she is suffering so much, she stops to congratulate you on your success and asks you how you are doing. Therese is truly a selfless soul.

Therese has so much to be grateful for despite many life challenges and would give back whenever she could.
At Thanksgiving friends who were alone, or not alone, were always invited to celebrate in her home and provided an amazing meal; then, with her kids, make her way downtown to hand out meals and essentials to the homeless.
This Thanksgiving was different...
At the end of the summer while on vacation in British Columbia during the September Long weekend, Therese was a victim of a brutal boating accident which has changed her life forever. After falling into the water from the Sea-doo, a nearby 40 foot yacht started its engine and reversed pulling Therese under the water and as a result severely damaged her right leg from the boats propeller. With her will to live she managed to grab hold of a rope that was hanging on the side of the yacht and pulled herself away from the propeller, she was then lifted to safety.
Therese was then driven by boat to Sicamous, taken by ambulance to a field where she was air lifted to Kelowna General Hospital. During her flight to KGH she “coded” and with immediate resuscitation she managed to not give up and was later told, “she is a fighter.”
Upon arrival to KGH she was rushed in for a blood transfusion and told due to the severe damage, her leg may need to be amputated. After three reconstructive surgeries from an amazing medical team and 30 days alone at the hospital, they were able to miraculously save her leg.
Finally at the beginning of October, Therese was Medevac’d back to Calgary, AB where she spent another eight days at the Rockyview hospital. After a month alone, she was finally able to see her kids, Abby and Sam and her boyfriend Bob, setting a goal to be home for Thanksgiving; which she accomplished!

Therese is now home with her loved ones, adjusting to her new future, which is very much uncertain. The pain of her nerves reattaching, is unbearable, let alone the financial stress of medical bills from her accident. She is unable to put any weight on her leg for 6 to 12 months and is told she may not be able to walk unaided for at least two years. Therese is unable to do the simple things, that she loves to do and that all of us take for granted; cook, clean, tend to her home and Abby and Sam’s needs all while trying to manage the additional burden of not being able to work anytime soon.
The stress is just far too great to carry alone, especially when Therese would be the first to help others.
Please join us in our mission to raise funds to help offset her financial burden.
It is time to show our love and help for our amazing friend, Therese, so she can concentrate on getting through this time in her life physically and mentally.
We appreciate any help you can offer, even if you are not able to donate, we ask that you think of her at this time and share this if you feel comfortable. We thank you for your positive thoughts and your support.
xoxo
