Theresa's Cancer Treatment

Donation protected

Hello and thanks for clicking on our Go Fund Me page.

This is a hard one to write and an even harder one to ask - especially in these strange and difficult times.

Two years ago my mother-in-law, Theresa, was diagnosed with breast cancer. Through the outstanding care she received from the Beatson and Cancer Support Scotland she beat it. As a family, we were so relieved.

Fast forward to a few weeks ago after experiencing symptoms Theresa was given the devastating news that she now has lung cancer. An aggressive adenocarcinoma - which has since been graded at stage 3.  We are devastated but are, as always, so proud of the strength, humility and courage that Theresa has already shown to battle through this.

Tomorrow (2nd November 2020) she will start a four-week course of both Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy. To make this situation worse as she will be incredibly vulnerable during her treatment we won't be able to see her, hug her or even support her face to face. Something that I know each member of our family is struggling with.

To help her treatment Theresa is also on a journey right now exploring other forms of holistic therapy that can help slow the cancer down. This involves a radical transformation of diet (to raw organic vegan), numerous supplements to take on a daily basis and the potential of travel to London for further treatment. This holistic therapy comes at a cost - quite a steep cost of hundreds of pounds every month.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, my father in law has been made redundant, and the cost of this treatment is beginning to take its toll.

Over the course of November, as we can't physically be with Theresa, I am taking on a bit of a challenge in the hope to raise funds to negate the cost of this additional therapy.

This support will hopefully help them through treatment and into the rehabilitation of her health and strength.

I will run the equivalent of 6 marathons (157.2 miles) over the 30 days in November. That's 5.25 miles every day. Rain, hail or shine. This, for me, is also an act of solidarity with Theresa as she will be receiving treatment throughout the duration of my challenge.

I invite you all to follow the Instagram page we have created to track the progress of each run:

We know this time is tough on everyone and we understand if giving financially isn't an option. But could we ask one thing? Could you share this page far and wide?

We thank you for your time and anything you can give/do to help is so greatly appreciated.

All my best
Ian
