Theresa(Terri)Richards support fund after tragedy
On January 28, 2021, my mother’s boyfriend of 3 years, John, tragically passed away.
1 year ago, John and Theresa (my mom) relocated from Michigan to South Carolina to build their dream retirement. They found a 19 acre parcel in beautiful rural Panola Tract area. They have spent the past 10 months building their “Barndominium”, with John doing most of the labor himself. It’s a 1500 sq ft barn with little over half of it dry walled to be a 1 bedroom, 1 full bath home. The other half, a garage and storage. The building has almost reach occupancy status.
With John’s passing, Theresa is left with an unfinished home, living in a camper, and lot of decisions to make on what to do next. Whether she can stay at her dream retirement location or has to sell it and relocate back to Michigan, the Barndominium living space needs to be finished.
All the materials to finish it are bought already. However, the cost of the labor to finish it is what she is struggling with, financially. The labor of finishing would have all been done by John.
This will help her either stay or sell. Selling would allow her to move on from the physical site, this incredible tragedy, and to find her new normal in retirement.
Staying would mean she could continue to live her dream retirement. It would just look a little different.
