WHO WE ARE

CAMILLE AND LILY (ELEPHANT'S NEST PRODUCTIONS)
Elephant's Nest Productions was founded this year by Camille Tanner-Smith. Two Production Office bods who, having worked on the likes of Man Like Mobeen, Downton Abbey, The Completely Made Up Adventures of Dick Turpin and We Are Lady Parts, are now seeking to break free from the world of spreadsheets and taxi bookings to sink their teeth into matters more creative. (Perhaps with the odd spreadsheet thrown in, for good measure…)

Elephant’s Nest is a venture that aims to amplify stories from voices unheard and stories that celebrate femininity, wildness and silliness wherever possible. Whilst developing their own projects this year, Camille and Lily have already also started cultivating relationships with other upcoming industry talents, allowing Elephant's Nest to showcase a rich and fresh example of what the Film & TV Industry currently has to offer.

OUR SHORT FILM

We have recently shot our debut feature, There’s A Bomb in Nan’s Garden, and are now in post-production. This project is the first ever for Elephant’s Nest Productions and we are incredibly grateful to have got this far with the project, the majority of which has been crowdfunded.

Sadly, during our first crowdfunding campaign, we didn’t hit our financial goal so, now in post-production, we are seeking to raise the final funds to help make There’s A Bomb in Nan’s Garden as great as we know it can be!

WHY DONATE?

Donating to There’s A Bomb in Nan’s Garden is incredibly important because it will allow us to complete the debut production for Elephant’s Nest Productions to the professional standard by which the rest of the production has been undertaken.

In addition, we are incredibly proud that this project has a charitable link with Oldalone UK. Oldalone UK is a charity helping to fight loneliness among older people by providing them with companionship and leisure, ensuring they can lead fulfilling and meaningful lives.

As a short celebrating the importance of relationships with our grandparents and grandparental figures, we feel that Oldalone UK’s message lies at the heart of There’s A Bomb in Nan’s Garden.Upon completion of post-production, we will be organising a screening of the short that will serve as a fundraiser for Oldalone UK.

SYNOPSIS

Marnie and her two brothers, Jack and Bill, have come to visit Nan for the weekend. The weather is glorious, so what better way to enjoy their time together than outside creating an epic Gnome-scape? However, not all is as it seems, as there is a fox amongst these pointy-hatted chickens…

Exploring the joyous relationship between a grandparent and grandchildren, this silly and heart-warming adventure sees Marnie use her novice detective skills (and a little help from the internet!) to find out just what lies at the end of her Nan's garden and save the day…or does she?

OUR CREW

We assembled (in our humble opinion!) a crew of the finest calibre. Alongside Lily and Camille's own credits (again, including Downton Abbey, The Completely Made Up Adventures… and We Are Lady Parts), our mighty team have racked up the likes of Boiling Point and The Dresser on their IMDB profiles.

Here’s a brief look at some of our key members who worked alongside Camille (Director) and Lily (Producer):

MAX HODGKINSON / DOP
Having worked in the industry for close to six years, Max has made quick work of showcasing his talent. His proudest achievement so far has been designing the lighting for Boiling Point, both the feature and the BBC TV series. With other credits spanning across Channel 4, ITV, Netflix and beyond, Max has keenly channelled his love of lighting into taking the lead behind the lens for There’s A Bomb In Nan’s Garden.

SUE TANNER / ART DIRECTOR
Sue has been in the industry since the age of 23 and has worked on shows that are now considered culturally defining pieces of television. Starting in-house at the BBC in the early 80’s, Sue’s CV includes (but is not limited to!) Doctor Who, Eastenders, Last of the Summer Wine, To Play The King and, more recently, The Dresser.

NICO BLENKINSOP / SCRIPT SUPERVISOR
You’d be hard pushed to find a sharper eye in Film & TV than that belonging to Nico! A master in her craft, Nico’s script supervisor credits include People Just Do Nothing, Alma’s Not Normal and Big Boys - to name but a few. A director’s best friend on set, Nico was integral to keeping our shoot running smoothly - and keeping us all as on the ball as she!

CAROLINE PEBERDY / HAIR AND MAKE UP DESIGNER
A warm and funny presence on set, Caroline has worked as a Hair and Makeup Artist in the industry for nearly 10 years. Her credits include Victoria, The Wife and Endeavour. Another expert eye in terms of continuity, Caroline makes light work of putting anyone and everyone at ease on set, not least the cast members!

OUR CAST

We were incredibly lucky to have two totally stellar women take on the two leads for There’s A Bomb in Nan’s Garden:

TIA DUTT (MARNIE)

Camille and Lily had the great pleasure of casting Tia as Marnie for the short. Having worked with her on the second series of the BAFTA nominated We Are Lady Parts (2024), Tia is also known for her roles in Polite Society (2023), The Power (2023) and The Reckoning (2023).

Tia perfectly captured Marnie in There’s A Bomb in Nan’s Garden! She lifted Marnie off the page and elevated her funny, sassy and witty personality. Dedicated and full of energy, Tia has made this short film sing. We feel so grateful to have had her be a part of our first project and we cannot wait to see what she does next - and work with her again in the future!

EMMA EDWARDS (NAN)

Emma Edwards is a master of the stage and we were so lucky to have her onboard as There’s A Bomb in Nan’s Garden. One half of Brighton-based comedy duo A+E Comedy, Emma has co-written and starred in productions such as ‘Witch Hunt’ (2023), ‘Enter The Dragons’ (2018) and ‘Mischief and Mystery in Moominvalley’ (2018).

Yet again, Emma brought Nan to life in ways that we weren’t expecting! As always hoped for, Emma had carefully crafted Nan’s backstory, interspersing elements of this into her performance across the two shoot days and bringing new dimensions to the character. Emma was a pleasure to work with and we cannot wait to share how well she brought Nan to life!

FINANCE PLAN

The £1,000 we are hoping to raise will be used predominantly to assist with our edit process, as we are going above and beyond to create this final film!

The final pieces of this puzzle are as follows:

Edit - although our editor is already beavering away, we require the funding to pay them for their diligent work.

Illustrations / Motion GFX - not only do we have a wonderful illustrator designing our graphics, we also have to animate said illustrations and input them into the short.

Music - we have a super composer on board creating two themes for the short.

Festival Submissions - we require a small pot to help us submit the short into festivals once complete, allowing us to showcase our hard work!

WHERE NEXT? THE FUTURE OF NAN'S GARDEN

As our first short, There’s A Bomb in Nan's Garden is indeed an exercise in cutting our teeth in the world of shorts. However, with our long-term goals for the Company in mind (producing award-winning television series and feature films), we see Nan's Garden as a vessel to get our name out into the world, to show who we are, what we love and how we make things.

We aim to enter There’s A Bomb in Nan's Garden into as many festivals as possible, keeping our supporters informed (and recognising them!) every step of the way.
