Leonard Bruzzichesi was born in MAY1961. He previously lived in Virginia Beach, VA and Suffolk, VA. He currently resides with his wife, Desiree, in Maryville, TN. Leonard joined the US Navy at the age of 17 and provided 20 faithful years of service to his country retiring with honor as a Chief Petty Officer (E-7). After retirement, Leonard worked approximately 10 years in the private sector before starting as a local retail firearms expert in conjunction with auction staff at Gribby’s Auction Company. Leonard is also in good standing as a Mason at Sevier Lodge #334 where he spends much of his free time assisting in local charities, fundraisers, and community events. Leonard learned many things while in the Navy, including how to take care of the people around him. He shows this every day with anyone he encounters. Leonard may show a rough exterior, but he has a loving and caring soul.
In the early morning of 28FEB2020, Leonard suffered a massive cardiac event in his home. His wife came to his aid and activated emergency services. He was taken by EMS to Blount Memorial Hospital where they detected that Leonard had suffered an Aortic Rupture which is not a common event, but very lethal. He was then transferred to University of Tennessee Hospital and went directly into emergency surgery. Leonard was in surgery until approximately 7:05PM on the night of 28FEB2020.
After undergoing multiple blood transfusions with uncontrolled bleeding, Leonard currently lies in a drug induced coma with 3 chest tubes, intubated and on a vent; his blood pressure maintained by medications and his heart being externally paced. Leonard is fighting for his life with every second.
As anyone can expect, the already accumulated medical costs, time off from work for both him and his wife, Desiree, and the hopeful recovery process will place many hardships on him and his family.
His Family, Friends, and loved ones are hoping for a miracle and as much support as they can get for Leonard to help give back some of the love and compassion he has spread in the course of his life so far.
