SYNOPSIS:
The film is set in suburban Detroit, 1988 and follows Bryan, a high school senior outcast with his eyes set on Stacy, his old childhood friend. Her overprotective boyfriend, Ted, forbids him from talking to her.

WHY THIS STORY MATTERS:
Although this film is set almost 40 years ago, it is a simple yet effective story about the universal themes of connection and rekindling relationships along with young love and appreciating someone for who they really are. These concepts are still relevant today, especially for younger people.

Losing old friends because of growing apart with social cliques is heartbreaking, which is something everyone can relate to.
