In November 2025, MTRX became one of only two registered VEX U (collegiate robotics) teams in the entire United Kingdom. No university funding. No corporate backing. Just about 20 students from Cambridge, Imperial, UCL, Bristol, Bath, and Queen Mary who decided to build a robot capable of competing against the best university teams on Earth — and put Britain on the map in a sport it's never competed in before.

We're one competition away from qualifying for the VEX U World Championship in St. Louis. Getting on that stage will cost us £30,000 — and every pound is unaccounted for right now.

Where it goes:

£8,000 — qualifying competition costs (travel, entry, accommodation for the round that decides if we go)

£20,000 — robot build: parts, motors, repairs, spares for World Championship-level competition

£2,000 — World Championship registration
