Cancer was not on our bingo card for 2025.
Update October 2025
Original story listed below update.
Jan 7, 2025 Shaun was diagnosed with sarcoma.
April 30, 2025 Shaun had an above knee amputation.
August 15, 2025 More areas found on PET the cancer had spread.
We know now that it is a UPS, Undifferentiated Pleomorphic Sarcoma. And we have the same team but more. Shaun was accepted into a clinical trial for treatment and its already started.
Unlike before this will be all of it! Radiation, chemo and immuno therapy. Maybe all at once. Fast.
We didn’t think this was going to be an outcome. Wishful thinking that losing the leg would cure the cancer. But it is not in his lungs. Right arm clavicle, humerus, left lower ribs, right inside pelvis and the T9 vertebrae.
Radiation will cover 3ish of the areas; arm, rib, and spine. The meds will cover the rest. The trial is for a new way to apply old meds to new cancers. Biopsy is done, it is the same exact sarcoma confirmed, and treatment is underway. Shaun is being monitored way more closely this go round.
Shaun remains resolute and up beat, We will beat this cancer even with 1 leg. Our only concern is that we planned to be working and for the next few months we are back in free fall. We can’t commit to to much in case of health and up coming dr visits. At this point we had hoped to save funds for Shaun’s robo leg, but now we need the help to survive again. We have applied for disability and are still applying for any and all help but it takes time.
We can not even begin to thank the friends and family who have donated and helped us to survive to this point. Shaun and I are blown away by the out pouring of love, support, and prayers we feel and receive. Thank you doesn’t even begin to cover it.
With love and gratitude,
Lainey and Shaun
ORIGINAL STORY
On January 7, Shaun Pollard, beloved husband, dad, son, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend to many, was diagnosed with sarcoma, a rare (2:1,000,000/year) cancer.
Shaun and Lainey are the proud owner/operators of Shaun Pollard Professional Painting aka SP3 for the last nine years. This company and their loyal customers mean the world to them. Their understanding and patience are very much appreciated.
Lainey will be by Shaun’s side every step of the way, and they will be unable to work. They will have no income.
Shaun will be undergoing daily radiation therapy for four weeks prior to surgery. Recovery is expected to be up to a year. We have great faith in his oncology team at UIC.
We humbly ask for your support, prayers and good vibes.
Thank you.
All funds go directly to Shaun to help us survive the next few month. For medical bills, gas to get to and from treatment 5 days a week 70 miles one way. As self employed business owners no work means no pay. Especially as we get our footing and aid in order.
