Synopsis: This is a story of recovery and perseverance. This book highlights the ups and downs of a Combat Decorated Wounded Warrior in a post-war, post-injury world. This is the story of how one Navy Corpsman persevered after losing his friends and a limb along with other traumatic injuries in Ramadi, Iraq. This is not a war-story. It begins as I lay in a hospital bed after a bomb blasted my whole life into a new reality.
This story documents my time in the Navy while living with injuries, recovery from surgeries and what happened once I got out of the military. This book aims to tell the importance of how self-discipline and perseverance helped me find myself and learn to enjoy life again. I hope that this book will reach those living with a disability, their family members, and their loved ones to prove that they are enough and to give them inspiration in following their dreams. This book will tell of bureaucratic injustice, frustration, and how I found my purpose. I hope it inspires others to find their purpose too.
