Therapy/Service Dog for Bryson
Donation protected
First off, I just have to say that Bryson is easily one of the most positive and brave kids I have ever known and I love him with all of my heart. These are photos of him with a therapy dog at Children's Hospital of Los Angeles and the reason for this post.
Recently, he started having seizures that have turned silent in his sleep. As optimistic and positive as we all are, there is simply no denying that these are the most dangerous and have the highest level of mortality. Sarah and Aristotle have done a lot of research and have come across an opportunity for Bryson to have a trained therapy/service dog that can recognize and alert them of the onset of a seizure, even while he sleeps. A trained dog can also soothe Bryson's anxiety when he recognizes a seizure is coming, which can stop the seizure completely and soothe him during his post-ictal phase.
He has spent nearly two years of his short life trying numerous combinations of treatments- from "top of the line" medicines, ketogenic diets, CBD oil and has been in and out of every children's hospital, testing facility, ER and a recent decision for Bryson to have brain surgery at CHLA in May- all in an effort to control his 5-10 grand mal and myoclonic seizures per day.
This puppy is due to come into the world next week at Sunnyview Labradors in Salem, Oregon and trained by Alyson Rodges- a leading trainer of therapy and service dogs nationwide. I wholeheartedly believe he will change not only Bryson's life but my sister and her family's life as well. I am doing this because I know they would never ask, but a therapy dog and training for children with seizures comes with a great expense. Also, please keep them in your thoughts and prayers as Bryson undergoes his surgery in May.
