Emotional Support Dog for Naomi Rankin
Donation protected
Many of you are familiar with Naomi's (Nani's) story. For over 5 years - since the age of 2 - Nani has undergone various treatments for a brain tumor behind her eyes. Although it is benign, it cannot be removed surgically because her optic nerves are embedded in it. She has undergone 2 rounds of chemotherapy and is now receiving targeted therapy infusions twice each month.
While these treatments have kept the tumor "stable", they have greatly affected Nani physically, academically and psychologically. At a recent evaluation, Marco and Lisa were informed that anxiety and depression will most likely be a long-term battle for her.
Goldendoodles are often used as "emotional support" dogs because of their intelligence and gentle personality. Nani has had the opportunity to spend time with several dogs, including a 1-yr-old goldendoodle, over the past few months, and even these short periods of time have seemed to have a significant effect on her emotional well being.
Obviously, continuing medical expenses make it difficult to obtain a dog with the personality and breeding to provide the emotional support Nani needs. This is where we, the loved ones of this dear family, come in. Dave and Donna Bundenthal's Golden Retriever has just given birth to a litter of Goldendoodle puppies, and they have generously agreed to offer one to the Rankin family for a discounted rate of $1,000. (Yes, these dogs are pretty pricey but well worth the cost!). We would like to raise an additional $500 for shots, monthly flea & heartworm meds, grooming and supplies like a kennel and food to get them started.
God has used Marco, Lisa, Rosie, Nani, Little Marco and Annika to encourage so many through their faith in the midst of several incredibly difficult years. It is exciting that we can be used in this small way to uplift and encourage them.
***The Rankins do not know anything about this! If we can keep it a surprise until all funds have come in, it would be greatly appreciated. As soon as we've obtained the needed funds, they will be told and will be able to choose their puppy, to be brought home on June 3rd. ***
"Let love be genuine . . . Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor . . . Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality." (Romans 12: 9-13)
Thank you in advance for your prayers and generosity for this dear family!!
