Help Support Theran’s Recovery and His Rockstar Mom, Valerie
Theran Gent is the 16 year old son of Valerie Kincaid and Dustin Gent. On July 8, 2025, Theran began experiencing vomiting and numbness in his toes. Just two days later, he was seen at urgent care and treated for dehydration. But his symptoms quickly worsened—muscle pain, stiffness, poor balance, and even numbness in his tongue. He visited the ER twice over the next few days and was finally transferred to St. Louis Children’s Hospital on July 13, where he was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome, a rare autoimmune disorder where the immune system attacks the nerves.
Theran spent nine days in the hospital undergoing treatment and evaluations. While he’s now back home, his road to recovery will be long and challenging. He will require ongoing physical therapy, mobility support, and repeated trips to St. Louis for specialist appointments. Recovery from Guillain-Barré can take months—or even years.
Theran’s mom, Valerie, is not only his sole caregiver—she’s his biggest cheerleader and fiercest advocate. Valerie is a hair stylist and small business owner, which means when she’s not behind the chair, she has no income and no paid time off. Right now, her full-time job is caring for Theran—getting him to therapy, managing follow-up care, and being by his side every step of the way.
We’re asking for your help to raise $60,000 to cover uncovered medical expenses and to help Valerie stay home and focused on Theran’s recovery. This includes travel costs to and from St. Louis, daily expenses, and the financial cushion she needs while she’s unable to work.
Valerie has always been the first to show up for others—now it’s our turn to show up for her and Theran. Let’s wrap this family in love and support and remind them they’re not alone on this journey.
Please donate if you can, share if you will, and keep Theran and Valerie in your thoughts
