My name is Rhoda St. Luce. I was born and raised on the island of St. Croix U.S. Virgin Islands. I received my Bachelor of Art from Kutztown University in Kutztown, Pennsylvania. While attending there, I discovered my passion for cooking. I would prepare meals and sell them to students and staff. This allowed our organization (The International Students Organization) to raise money for different events. After graduating, I relocated to Michigan attending Saginaw Valley State University. I obtained my postgraduate degree in secondary Education.

My love for teaching cooking classes began six years ago in my home. Teaching cooking classes to friends who wanted to learn how to cook healthier great tasty meals with a Caribbean flare. Connecting my Caribbean roots to my cooking classes became a success amongst my friends. Therefore, I founded “The Platinum Chef” in 2010. The Platinum Chef is a personal chef and catering company that specialize in but not limited to vegan, vegetarian and Caribbean cuisines and pastries. After working hard building The Platinum Chef's brand, my famous signature Vegan Sweet Potato Sticky Buns is sold at several markets such as Kroger and Whole Foods Market.

Being a vegetarian for over thirteen years and then a vegan for six years, this lifestyle have attributed to perfecting a line of delicious vegan pastries and cuisines. My dedication to a healthier lifestyle fused with my Caribbean roots have influence my approach to the way I connect with food, sourced it, and cook. Staying connected to my roots is very important, so authentic island spices are added to many dishes. My love for cooking, feeding people, and helping to teach my community the benefit of eating fresh whole food have lead me to embark on a new journey.

Today, I am asking my family, friends, and lovers of “The Platinum Chef” to assist me in raising funds in pursuing my passion by opening Detroit’s first vegan café and bakery manufacturing facility.  Most of the dishes and pastries sold represent my Caribbean roots. This location will also enable The Platinum Chef to expand their services mainly getting our vegan baked goods into more local and statewide markets.

How the money will be allocated:
·         10% of all monies raise goes to Barbra Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute colon cancer and multiple myeloma cancer research in honor of my parents ($5000).
·         $6000.00 first three month’s rent
·         $3000.00 health department permit
·         $10,372.83 construction management fee
·         $12,101.64 Architecture and Engineering fee
·         $13,525.53 Building permits, insurance, and project staff cost

The goal is to have all funds secure on or before July 1st.  Your monetary support towards this project will help a great local company who believes that our community will benefit from The Platinum Chef’s expansion project in the city of Detroit. Thank you inadvance for your help.
