Hi everyone!

I am finally crossing the rainbow bridge from having boobs to having no boobs. Although this metaphorical pot-at-the-end-of-the-rainbow feels GREAT, I do not have a bottomless pot of gold with which to pay my surgeon.

I am getting my surgery now, not because this is the most ideal time for me, or I am 100% financially secure, but because I truly fear that within the next few years gender affirming care will become federally illegal - maybe de facto, maybe through literal law. For the time being, I am protected in New York, but that does not make me (or any of my other trans siblings) immune. Congress is already and will continue to attack my ability to have adequate healthcare. The BBB prevents Medicaid from covering trans care, and private companies are expected to follow suit. New York is a shield, but it’s rather my hope more than my belief that NY will be able to protect me forever. I must take the opportunity to improve my quality of life while I still have the chance, so I truly appreciate any help you can give towards my goal. Trans people and trans allies have supported each other for generations, when society at large has failed us, so thanks to anyone continuing that chain :)

My surgery is in September, and for the majority of that month, I will be unable to work - so I have some costs that I cannot fund by myself. I am fundraising for medical recovery equipment, anticipated extra medical costs, rent for the 2-3 weeks I’ll be away from my apartment, loss of income, and so on. Every dollar will count for me!
