Theo's open heart surgery
Donation protected
Join us in supporting a bubbly little 5 year old on his journey through his open heart surgery and road to recovery. Due to recent progression of his heart condition, Theo is forced to keep his bubbly personality contained.
On Monday, March 11th 2024, 5-year-old Theo was playing at his grandma (Oumie’s) house with his brother being a normal 5-year-old self. Theo complained that he was not feeling well and was having chest pains. His family called 911 and he was rushed to the hospital where he underwent test to make sure his current medical condition had not worsened.
Rewind a couple of years ago when Theo went in for routine checkup and he was referred to a cardiologist who found an issue with his heart. He was diagnosed with sub-aortic stenosis; it involves the presence of a membrane that is typically muscular just below the aortic valve. This causes a fixed obstruction to blood flow across the left ventricular outflow tract. Doctors hoped they could hold off on doing open heart surgery until he was 8 years old. In January during a follow up appointment, doctors discovered his condition was progressing much quicker than they expected it to. They scheduled him for open heart surgery at the end of March to go in and fix the issue.
The medical costs are immense, but on top of this due to his condition worsening his mother will not be able to work until after his surgery. Theo has been placed on activity restriction until surgery and therefore it will be best for him to be home with mom. After the surgery his father will be out from work until Theo is able to recover! On top of all of this his parents are going to have to figure out lodging arrangements while Theo is in the hospital at Childrens hospital in Omaha.
Every donation, big or small, will make a difference in helping the family care for Theo and help his family on this stressful journey. Your generosity will help this vibrant young kiddo and his family get back on their feet.
Thank you for your kindness and support in this critical time!
