Theo's liver transplant

Donation protected
Theo was born on August 31, 2022 with a rare Urea Cycle Disorder called CPS1. Theo is missing an important liver enzyme, which makes it difficult for his body to break down ammonia. High levels of ammonia in the body is toxic and can lead to irreversible brain damage.

A few days after Theo was born, he went into a hyperammonemic crisis and spent five weeks at Mott Children’s Hospital. Theo was recently listed for a liver transplant, which will essentially cure his condition and allow him to live a healthy, “normal” life without worry of brain damage.

While thankfully many of Theo’s medical bills are covered, we are hoping to raise funds to help with all of the other costs during another prolonged hospital stay — mostly to allow Corey and Elizabeth to stay afloat with bills and expenses while they take time from work to be with Theo. The hospital stay will likely be a few weeks, and then Theo’s recovery at home will be around three months.

Elizabeth and Corey are so grateful for all of the love and support they have received since Theo’s birth and truly could not have done it without friends and family.
