Theo's CCL repair surgery
Donation protected
On Friday the 13th in August, I was walking my dog Theo through Saint Michael Cemetery near my house when he took off chasing a flock of geese and came back to me limping, not bearing weight on his right leg. X-rays were done the next day at Jefferson Animal Hospital and he was diagnosed with a torn ccl and given instructions to take it easy while we waited for an available surgery date. Despite my best efforts to do so, exactly a week later he tore the ccl on his left leg coming into the house and has been living with a double ccl repair tear since. This fundraiser is to raise money for the first of his 2 surgeries on October 12th with Gailor Animal Hospital.
I've had Theo since June of 2015 when I adopted him from a rescue when he was just a puppy. Theo's been by my side through so many of my life transitions since I was 20 and it's nearly impossible to imagine my life without him. Theo is very active, very sweet and all who know him knows he has quite a personality. He's been my hiking and camping buddy on countless adventures, has joined me more than once on a canoe or kayak, and recently learned he loves to swim. He loves all fruits and vegetables and this summer was known to dig through the garden looking for carrots and tomatoes to snack on.
This past July I went through a somewhat unexpected ending of a long term relationship causing my living expenses to double, which has made paying for this surgery myself a very daunting task. Any amount would be greatly appreciated, particularly with the hardships I've experienced this year, as I absolutely can not fathom the alternative of losing my dog at this point in my life. Within weeks after going through a circumstantially awful break up, my catalytic converter was stolen from my car and then these injuries occurred shortly thereafter. It's been a challenging adjustment caring for him by myself for the first time in 5 years and now with his added needs of being carried everywhere. The surgeries will be completed about 6 weeks apart, starting with the leg that's most injured, the left leg. Should this fundraiser raise any extra money it will all be put towards the next surgery, to repair the right leg, which will be in late November or early December depending on his healing. Thank you so much for anything donated or even just for reading this far!!
