In 2018 my sister’s health began to rapidly decline. Her immune system tanked. First to go was her sleep. After battling severe insomnia with max 2-4 hours of sleep for almost 8 months, her body started to finally give out. Her vision would go blurry, parts of her body would go numb and her body would shake sometimes for up to two days at a time. We also noticed severe cognitive issues, examples such as leaving keys in the door, leaving the stove on, seeing a green light and stopping and seeing a red light and going. Per her current Doctor, she was experiencing neurological brown out episodes. After a final neurological brown out episode in October of 2018 that left her trapped in the middle of train tracks in her car (because she had failed to notice she stopped right on them as the train was coming) my sister was immediately placed on medical leave and moved to San Diego for intensive outpatient treatment. For the next year plus, we would embark on a journey to figure out what was happening in her body. Multiple systems in her body started to slowly fail. We were monitoring them closely, and the lab results showed significant decline in her:
• Thyroid • Adrenals • Gut
• Brain
• Kidneys • Liver
In July 2019, the medical team confirmed her first diagnosis of severe mycotoxin poisoning (mold poisoning) from her apartment in LA. My sister had to move immediately and throw out basically everything she owned. All her belongings were gone practically overnight — that place was her home for five years, she loved it there. Two months later, she got two more diagnoses: Lyme disease and EBV. The treatment center she goes to in San Diego cannot do the extensive treatment she will need to heal her body of these severe diagnoses. She was able to get help for five months with rent, but after that she was still paying rent for her lease in LA and for all her medical expenses plus normal living expenses. Fortunately, she has excellent credit and has been able to take out multiple credit cards that she’s been living off of. However, it’s coming close to the end of the road with her credit limit and she still has treatment to go through.
Her new treatment center in Reno, Sierra Integrative Medical Center is all cash pay. They will be treating her for multiple diagnoses including Mold, Lyme, EBV, and neurological issues. Again, this is all cash pay and is pretty extensive. On top of medical bills, she needs to cover rent for the next few months while she is still on medical leave, undergoing treatment. This is the top clinic in the world for Lyme and Co Infection treatment! I have been in remission from Lyme Disease & Co Infections for 7 years after being treated at SIMC and I know many other people with success after treatment!! Theora has a incredible team at SIMC and her doctor, Dr. Fong has the perfect treatment plan to get her healed!
We have legal representation handling the case for the damage done to her body and for the loss of all her belongings but it could be years before litigation is complete — and may not result in any reimbursement at all. This GoFundMe will help pay off her current medical debt and help pay for the treatment she still has yet to go through; this amount does not include replacing any of her belongings. It is only for medical bills. Any support would help.
We are asking for $40,000 total: $20,000 to cover current medical debt and $20,000 for upcoming medical treatment in Reno.
