I'm Trey, and I've signed a publishing contract with Lake Drive Books to publish Theologizin' Bigger, my debut offering!
There are so many things to be excited about here. I'm writing a book about the kind of thinking that will help us navigate faith in a world where we have more information at our fingertips than any generation has ever experienced. I think the smartphone has changed the world in ways we haven't seen since the printing press, and—just as the printing press coincided with one of the largest shifts in the ways we understand Christianity—modern technology has ushered many people of faith into lands they weren't prepared to travel.
Because we have so much more information at our fingertips than at any other point in human history, we gotta think bigger. We have to theologize bigger. Relevant theologies demand that we change thought patterns and approaches to God talk. This book aims to provoke us to think outside of our theological comfort zones.
But faith isn't the only thing technology has changed. It's also changed the way publishing works. People aren't buying as many books in bookstores anymore. The way books are discovered has changed. More and more publishers are leaning on authors' established platforms to sell books. And the royalty structures haven't reflected or kept pace with that shift.
I've decided to try something new. I'm foregoing the traditional publishing route and taking a bet on us. I'm going to crowdfund a great deal of this project and receive a deal that is more commensurate with the value that authors provide in the world of publishing. I hope that, if this is successful, more authors will feel emboldened to explore new paths in the new world of publishing.
In trying to bring Theologizin' Bigger to life, I'm trying to think bigger too.
Funds will go toward the production costs of all editions (print, ebook, and audio) of Theologizin Bigger and its successful promotion.
We'll have a virtual release party when the book is finally launched, and every single person who donates is invited!
We're also working on some additional bonuses and merch for people who help us get to our goal, so stay tuned.
If you contribute $60 or more, you'll receive a signed copy of the book upon release.
If you contribute $100 or more, you'll receive your choice of Theologizin' Bigger merch (to be announced) and a signed book.
At $500 or more, you'll receive ALL the Theologizin' Bigger merch and a signed book.
