Support Sean Wilson's theological studies (2024-25)

Dear friends and supporters,

The story so far
In April 2023, I started studying via distance for a Master of Letters in Classical Protestantism (M.Litt) with Davenant Hall.

I have taken classes in the Biblical theology of the sexes, Augustine’s The City of God, the Protestant doctrine of natural law, the liturgy of the ancient church, moral theology for counselling, and beginner Latin—amongst many other things! Each of the lecturers have been excellent, and I have also learned a lot from the thoughtful students in the live classes.

For someone who has always enjoyed studying God’s word, I have really enjoyed having the opportunity to study in a more directed and formal way. The fact that the M.Litt program is almost entirely run online makes it feasible for me to take these classes without being uprooted from my community.

Along the way, I’ve been trying to turn these things I’m learning into things that will be a blessing to others. I’ve been writing regularly at my blog and newsletter, Psalter the Earth, and I’ve done occasional preaching at my church, St Paul’s. (I am also hopeful that my studies will equip me to be useful in some kind of pastoral ministry in the future.) I hope that many others have been blessed and encouraged and edified because of this work, and the study that has made it possible.

I’d like to thank from the bottom of my heart all of you who have supported me in my studies, who've prayed for me, who've encouraged me, and especially those who have donated generously to help me pay for tuition. I couldn't have done it without you, and it was a great encouragement to me as I was starting out that others believed in what I was doing and wanted to help me out.

What’s next?
This September, I'll be starting another academic year, and I want to persevere in this course of study and keep growing and keep learning.

I want to take four more regular subjects, as well as two terms of Biblical Hebrew. (I’m really looking forward to getting to read the Old Testament in the original language.)

And Lord willing, this June, I will be travelling to United States to attend a two-week residential intensive at Davenant House about How to Read the Bible and the World.

What do I need?
The money I will need for tuition, textbooks—and, Lord willing, for travel—comes to right around A$6,000.

In all likelihood, it will only be possible for me to do this with the help of some generous donors, just like last year. So if you’d like to support me in my studies for the next year, or if you’ve been at all blessed or encouraged or edified by any of the work I’ve been able to do—please consider making a generous donation towards my studies for the next academic year.

I hope to raise the full $6,000 by the end of March 2025.

Thank you very much for your support—and God bless,
Sean
