Help Us Bring Kosuzu to America and Share a Story with Global ImpactMy name is Ari Beser, and I’m creating a documentary that connects two families profoundly affected by the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. My grandfather, Jacob Beser, was a flight member on both missions. For the past 15 years, I have been meeting eyewitnesses and documenting their incredible stories of survival. One of those stories is that of Kosuzu Harada, whose grandfather, Tsutomu Yamaguchi, miraculously survived both bombings. After more than a decade of shared dialogue and collaboration, Kosuzu and I are preparing to travel to the United States together for the first time. This trip marks a pivotal moment not just for our families, but for the global conversation surrounding nuclear weapons—especially during a time when the threat is rising again. Our mission is to stand together against nuclear weapons, bringing these vital stories to the forefront. Through The Nuclear Family, we highlight not only the humanitarian consequences of nuclear weapons but also the actionable steps we can take toward a more peaceful future. Why This MattersNuclear weapons affect us all, not just governments and experts. Everyone lives under this reality, and it’s essential that we confront it collectively.
