Empire Dance Academy is thrilled to announce that we have signed a lease and are moving into a larger space August 2020! Although we love our relationship with MTH Theater and Crown Center, Empire will relocate to our very OWN space right in the heart of Midtown Kansas City. Now offering 2 studios, our new home is located in the Historic Meyer Building off of Main Street. As Empire transfers into this larger space, we will be able to offer even more than just a place for all to dance, but also a place to build community in and out of the studio.
At Empire, we are dedicated to providing a safe space for some of the most cutting-edge dance experiences in the heart of the Midwest. We do not strive to be the biggest dance studio in the city, but instead focus our efforts on being the best by offering a top notch program that encourages and inspires artists to create and collaborate. It is our mission, first and foremost, to provide inspiration and foster creativity. We offer mentorship/training programs and drop-in classes in hip hop, contemporary, jazz, jazz funk, musical theatre, ballet and more. By bringing together the areas most renowned choreographers and instructors, under one roof, we have become the most sought after dance studio in Kansas City and the industry leader in dance training.
So what's next:
As we strive for greatness at Empire and continue to build community, we have many goals set in place for our new home. We want to make Empire a universal creative space where we not only come together and create dance, but amplify our passion for art within our community by offering a variety of affordable classes for all ages, pre-professional and professional opportunities, workshops, guest artists, seminars, improv nights, showcases, lectures, events, and an arts resource library.
More space means more opportunities and some amazing amenities. Some of these amazing additions include:
-This is our OWN space!
-2 studios, the larger of which is bigger than our current studio
-Bay windows (for fresh air) over looking Main Street
-Open lobby area
-Dance resource library
-New lighting and New sound system
-Social area on a rooftop deck to continue connection before and after class
-Our own bathrooms
-FREE parking behind the studio
-Security on premises
-Parents will still be able to view classes
-With the extension of the Kansas City street car there will be a stop right in front of the building at 39th street
-Adding more classes to the schedule
-Introducing our YOUNG ARTISTS PROGRAM
-Continuing our E2 pre-professional and Protege Program
Empire has welcomed over 2,000 dancers through our doors in the last 3 years and our commitment to dance excellence has stood, even during the COVID-19 pandemic, where we had to restructure our program entirely by offering multiple virtual classes everyday. Empire’s allegiance to help elevate the dance community has always been our #1 priority and now we are graciously asking if you could support us at this time.
In order to provide excellence to anyone who walks through our doors, renovations will need to be made to our new home. Our fundraising goal for Empire’s new home is $10,000. Some of the renovations include:
-New Flooring for both studios, vinyl and marley
-Walls needing to be moved for a more efficient layout (sheetrock, trim, etc)
-New Lighting
-New Sound System
-New Rooftop Deck
-New Paint
-Mirrors
-Bathrooms To Be Remodeled
-New Doors
-New Hardware
-New Blinds
-Furniture
-Dancer Resource Library (educational materials)
-AND MORE
All funds raised here will go directly to renovating our home and will help ensure excellence to the arts in Kansas City! Please consider donating.
