My name is Elaan Greenfield and I fell in love with metalsmithing in 2007. In 2016, I left my full-time office job to start a full-time jewelry business, Elaan Greenfield Designs. I began working out of a home studio (pictured above) and within a year I had moved into a studio out of the house and my family got their dining room back. In addition to creating my jewelry line, I offer classes, private lessons, and workshops. However, since the beginning, the spaces have been a bit cramped for groups and I knew it wasn’t going to work longterm.

This year, I began working on how and where to expand and I found the South Hill Business Campus location with huge opportunities for space growth. In April, I signed a lease for a space big enough to open a metalsmithing studio/school with an adjoining space for EG Designs. I've worked with an architect and other specialists to build and create the perfect space for this new venture: The Metal Smithery! The new space is planned to open in late summer and is located between a well established clay school and a newly built gallery and artsists’ studio spaces. This location is a dream come true!

At The Metal Smithery, there will be local and visiting instructors with a variety of specialties and backgrounds. The emphasis will be on metal arts, community building, learning, and freedom to explore the ever expanding world of metal! Additionally, there will be a special focus on empowerment programs for youth, teens, and girls, regardless of their financial situation.


At The Metal Smithery, there will be constant opportunities for all ages to learn and make through instruction. There will also be open access to those ready to rent studio space to make at their own pace, on their own schedule, without instruction.The space will have multiple soldering stations, jewelers benches, group class work tables, metalsmithing supplies for sale, evening hours, weekend hours, membership benefits, and much more!
