And welcome to, the WHY (watch the video)
I rarely open up about initiatives in "charity". It's something I find uncomfortable sharing publicly, mainly because I detest the exploitative habit of depicting poverty for sake of generating horribly misguided donations.
However, times have changed.
Now, it's time to COUNTER.
Take a look at these beautiful girls.
They have no parents and have spent their whole lives in a Mombasa-based orphanage set up by a local business group to support the community. I visited the kids late last year, and spent the day dancing, singing, fashion exchanging, football playing and eating [vegan] cupcakes.
Despite their opportunity for a home and education (yes they're all attending state schools), they live approximately 8 KIDS to 1 ROOM, with very limited space, a number of sanitation issues and ZERO access to the equipment they need to build on their creative magic.
Over 100 children reside in the small orphanage - an oversized family of boys and girls, all incredibly talented, kind and joyful. Beaming with life and the zest to excel.
Please, do not pity them.
As we enter this new and critical era, with an impassioned belief in the arts - and its impact on social change, I'm calling on all of us to come together, build together, and provide these gifted children (and many more across Africa, and the world) with what they deserve to *creatively* thrive.
#TheMagicDrive works to inspire and advance young lives through use of the arts, fashion and sustainable tourism. As the charitable arm to Rozan's office, the Magic Drive's specially curated programs provide creative experiences (in styling, photography, music, performance & sports) to orphans and those in crisis in Kenya, Africa and beyond.
This new and innovative vision is a true amalgamation of Rozan's passions, already shifting attitudes, hearts and minds whilst supplying our future generation with the inspiration and collected TALENT TOOLS they need for a more confident success.
We are now raising urgent funds to establish our next series of programs in Kenya, Rwanda, Nigeria and the USA (with plans to expand to Ghana, Namibia and other countries internationally). We also intend to officialise the Magic Drive online with an official website, for both our power programs and 'responsible retreat' experiences, along with our brand new heart clinic soon to be opened in Mombasa, Kenya (more on that soon).
In partnership with fashion super brands across the world, and the collective efforts of a global creative community dedicated to artistic legacy, we plan to provide everyday clothes, gowns, abayas, unicorn outfits (why not?), footballs, stationary, books, toys, sowing kits, glitter, jewellery, accessories, music systems, shoes, cameras, moments, training, teaching, opportunity, light and so much more... personally delivering everything throughout a series of collaborative and empowering activities taking place throughout 2020.
All our programs will be documented through captivating content, with a (truly) dedicated focus on sustainable TOURISM, sustainable FASHION, self-BELIEF and mind-SHIFT.
As part of your donation, you'll be asked to write a personal note to the young people YOU have chosen to powerfully elevate. We will watch these talented humans grow into their best selves, as we strive, and drive, towards their inner magic:
1. MAKE A DONATION! RIGHT NOW. LET'S GET TO 50K AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! WE HAVE A LOT OF INCREDIBLE, TRANSFORMATIONAL WORK TO DO. WITH LOVE, WITH PASSION AND WITH POWER.
2. If you have beautiful clothes ready to give away, bags, shoes, footballs, toys, games, accessories (anything and everything related to fashion and the creatively great!) then please email: [email redacted]
3. If you're a photographer, videopgrapher, model, dancer, singer, DJ, footballer, PR expert, stage manager, content creator et al... and would like to come along to either mentor/cover one of our programs then you too can email: [email redacted]
4. Follow @themagicdrive on instagram and stay up to date on all our moving developments.
Your support will go directly towards executing the Magic Drive vision: Fulfilling mindful change, self-love, self-empowerment, and ultimately a brand new, overdue, fashionably-oriented and crucial view to sustainability. Our programs, heart, clinic, officiation and immediate IMPACT will continue and grow, all thanks to YOU, to us, and our belief in collective magic.
