Hey there! I'm George Williams, a filmmaker and film student in my final year at MetFilm Birmingham. If you're reading this, you're looking at the crowdfunding campaign for our grad film, THE LATE STAGE. It's a fifteen-minute short film we hope to shoot this coming March, but we need your help to make it a reality!
THE STORY
Actors Joshua & Phoebe visit dying director Daymon Shawn to rehearse a new play - his life’s work which they’ve convinced him has been greenlit. The crux of the story surrounds the friendship Joshua & Daymon share, and the emotion of Joshua wanting his friend to feel as though he's gotten to live out his dream, even if under false pretences. I wrote the film as a quiet, sincere portrait of someone struggling with illness, life and legacy, and the lengths people will go for those they love.
The film is set against the backdrop of 1980s Manhattan, in the throws of the AIDS epidemic. We want to tell an honest, emotional story of how lives are affected by illness, and the loneliness of physical decline, and how friendship and love can triumph over it.
