“Two young surfers discover an old necklace washed up on a beach, which leads to a good friend of theirs being abducted by demons. Now, they must seek out a mysterious hermit living in the Santa Cruz mountains, and rumored to be a sorcerer, who may be able to help them.”
Hello there! If you’re reading this, and we’re friends on Facebook, then you probably already know my life-long dream has been to become a professional filmmaker. I've been in love with the art form and process since I was in third grade and I consider myself extremely fortunate to have found my passion at such an early age. However, up until this point, my work has only really consisted of music videos and photography (apart from a handful of student films I made in high school and while attending De Anza College - where I took 4 consecutive screenwriting courses). Nonetheless, I’ve dedicated a significant amount of time over the past 7 years to developing myself in these departments (you can check out my work at www.paullewicki.com), all while trying to come up with the right story for my first short film. Something that comes straight from my imagination and heart and is relatively easy and inexpensive to produce. But that I can be proud of and submit to film festivals throughout the country. And I finally have it! I’ve called it “The Last Sorcerer” and it’s a fun, fantasy / adventure story with a fair amount of comedy and even a little horror sprinkled in. I wrote the screenplay last fall and have been polishing it and prepping production (putting together a tremendously talented cast and crew, scouting locations, shopping for props, etc) ever since. And now, I’m proud to announce that it’s ready to be made! Everything is in place and we are set to begin production on April 2nd. We will be filming throughout the Bay Area, with locations spanning Willow Glen, Saratoga and Half Moon Bay. I'm extremely confident in my screenplay, my cast and crew and our ability to bring it to the screen. The only thing holding me back at this point is a little bit of money. Okay, so it’s about $3,000. So, this is where I ask you for help. I’m friends with just over 1,000 of you on Facebook and if everyone were to donate just $3, I’d hit my goal in no time and be able to make my film and share it with you all! Unfortunately, getting that many people on board is probably a little unrealistic, but seriously, any amount will be greatly appreciated! It will all go directly towards the cast, crew, equipment and locations. Filmmaking isn’t cheap but I believe that together we can make this film happen.
