The Karols

Mike Karol has worked at the DPW in Milton, MA for over 30 years. His wife of 23 years, Lisa, is a school bus driver for the town of Norwell. They have four children; Joey 10, Luke 15, Michelle 19 and John 20. Michelle is in her first year at UMass Amherst.
The Sunday after Thanksgiving Mike was taking down a large limb of a tree, something he has done expertly for years. His two younger sons were with him. Something went wrong and the limb hit him in the back and he fell from a ladder. Mike was taken by med-flight to Boston Medical. Mike is now paralyzed. He was expected to leave Boston Medical and be moved to a rehab within days however he developed pneumonia, respiratory problems and other issues. Mike stayed at Boston Medical for about 6 weeks with Lisa by his side. Mikes brother, Steve, has been a rock for both Mike and Lisa. Mike was recently moved to Spaulding Rehab where he is getting excellent care.
There are renovations that will need to be done to their modest home in Pembroke to accommodate his new way of life. In addition, they will need a wheelchair accessible van to transport Mike. We are hoping that you can help in this effort. No donation is too small.
