I come to you with a heavy heart to help a SRHS student, Sebastian Hunt, in his and his family's time of need. On the morning of Thursday, 2/18, while attending a celebration of life for Sebastian’s great grandmother in Phoenix, Sebastian's family got the terrible news that their home had been lost to a fire in San Rafael. Their home, possessions, and family heirlooms were completely lost in the fire. Now, Sebastian and his grandmother are working to get back to the San Rafael area to deal with the aftermath of the fire, but sadly they have no home to arrive to.
Sebastian, his grandmother, Beverly Mason, and her partner, David Potts, are in current communication with the RedCross to locate temporary housing, but the lasting effects of the fire will be felt for many months and beyond. Sebastian now only has access to the clothes he packed with him on his trip to Phoenix, as his clothes and materials for school were lost in the fire. He will need financial help to afford new clothes for he and his grandmother, pay for food while they do not have access to a kitchen, and pay to replace essential items all while seeking a stable housing situation. The financial toll that Sebastian and his family will face in the upcoming months will be steep, but we hope with your gratitude the path ahead will be a little litter for the Hunt family.
The past twelve months have been trying times for our students, San Rafael Community Members, and nation as a whole. While the pandemic has affected all of us to varying degrees, the recent events which the Hunt family have experienced are an unforeseen curveball that no family should ever have to plan for. We know that no amount of money can erase the trauma which Sebastian is processing at the moment, but we hope that we can remove some barriers as Sebastian seeks to find a sense of normalcy during these trying times.
From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for taking the time to read about Sebastian and for your consideration in donating towards this great cause. You have already made a small impact by reading this passage and letting Sebastian know that he is cared and loved for, and now you can make an even bigger impact by donating financial assistance. We appreciate your financial support for Sebastian and the Hunt family.
