The House Theatre Company is a new theatre group founded this year dedicated to developing new work, supporting emerging artists, and uplifting underrepresented voices in theatre.
To honor the work our amazing artists are doing, we are aiming to move to a profit-sharing collective model. By donating to The House Theatre Company today, we'll be able to provide more opportunities to underrepresented artists, expand our outreach, and prioritize our amazing collaborators' developing careers.
Together, our three tenants of programming — the Greenhouse, a monthly new work development series, the Playhouse, our workshop production series, and the Open House, our free and accessible event series —represent a development model that guides artists through creating and producing new work in a collective space while elevating unheard voices in the industry.
We intentionally focus on the craft that comes from developing work in community. We believe wholeheartedly in launching the careers of historically underrepresented emerging artists, telling daring stories, and breathing future life into untold stories.
THIS YEAR SO FAR, we have:
- produced 7 monthly Greenhouse readings, one of which went on to have its Off-Broadway debut within just a few months, and multiple of which went on to Off-Off Broadway productions!
- led rehearsals for and developed a new for to be presented at a reading at the Queerly festival
- produced a new work for The Tank's Pridefest, raising money for the Campaign for Southern Equality
- opened up FREE submissions to produce work with us, prioritizing qt/BIPOC NYC-based artists ready to work through their first drafts!
- held our first PRIDEHOUSE, a lightning-round new works series highlighting the plays of four amazing queer playwrights!
- finished our first full production and were able to pay ALL of our artists!

- $15: 1 hour of rehearsal space for our upcoming projects!
- $50: payment for one artist to develop work with us!
- $100: expand our digital resources and create a website homebase for our community!
- $600: a stipend for all of our monthly Greenhouse artists!
- $1000: help us produce a longer run of one of our 2026 pieces!
