The Hive @ SF Grind Global

Who are we?

We are a small team of Rochester Institute of Technology(RIT) students, better yet known as The Hive Refrigeration, who came together to bring life to a problem we all struggle with being in college. We want to change the way people everywhere store their food – at work, at school and even at home! We all come from different backgrounds and majors, but all came together as a whole because we all share the same vision.

What is that vision?

As college students, one of our main concerns is food.

• Do I have enough money to buy food on campus?
• Do I have time to even get food before class or do I go hungry until class is over?
• Do I have to carry this bulky lunchbox around all day?
• How can I store the food that I buy/prep without someone taking it?
• How safe is the communal fridge in the commuter lounge?

The list goes on...

CEO Adolf Akuffo-Afful at RocGrowth

Our goal is to create a hive-shaped refrigeration unit that allows users to safely store and secure their food in a personal sized capsule using an "all in one swipe" ID authentification system.

Instead of this just being a student used system, we decided to expand to other businesses. Colleges, companies, elementary schools, homeless shelters and more can use these units effectively to keep food safe from bacteria and save time – ultimately giving the user a sense of safety, convenience and peace of mind.

With our efforts to apply to many competitions, we are happy to announce that we've been admitted to the Startup Grind Global 2018 Conference in Silicon Valley this coming February on the 12th - 14th! We are currently in the early pre-seed funding stage of our startup, so this competition would be a major opportunity to get exposure and network.

In order to attend this conference, they are asking that our team signs up, completes registration AND purchases a ticket of $1,995 within a total of 3 DAYS.

Unfortunately, as college students we don't have anywhere near $1,995 laying around or in our bank accounts to buy the tickets to compete on so we decided to make a GoFundMe and see if we can make this work!

We are asking you to please make a donation to contribute to getting The Hive Refrigeration to Silicon Valley.

This would not only be a chance for us to get exposure, but this could make a dream of a lifetime come true for our entire team and we are asking you to become a part of it!

We know it is short notice. Therefore, if we do not end up making our deadline, we do plan to use any donations towards future competitions and the pre-seed funding stage of our startup.

Thank you for your time and/or donation!
