Dear Ones,
June 25th, 2023
WE DID IT!!! The film is IN THE CAN!!! WooHoo!!!
I have loved this process and learned so much throughout this creative journey. There are so many to thank, but I must give a HUGE shout-out to our Director, Shane Andries. Without him, this film would not have happened. I am thrilled to know him and grateful for his expertise, kindness and generosity.
The new title for my short film is "sister." It is official and we have completed post-production and are officially submitting to festivals across the US and abroad.
We will reach for the stars and submit to regional and Oscar-qualifying film festivals like Footcandle, River Run, Beaufort, Savannah, Atlanta, Austin, SXSW, Telluride, Sundance, LA Shorts, Tribeca, Bend, Portland, Slamdance, Hollywood Short Fest, among many, many others.
We will keep everyone informed of any & all (fingers crossed) selections to the festivals as time goes on. This will be a year-long process from June 2023-June 2024.
I have watched the final cut and it is everything I could have hoped for and more. It is a tribute to my beloved sister, Mary Mallette! I hope you all find solace knowing "those we love, never truly leave us."
This is my last public ask for funding for festival submissions and expenses. If you would like to donate any amount to this GoFundMe, please do so before July 21st, 2023. Thank You!!!
I am gratified to announce the NC premier for "sister" benefiting Carolina Caring for Catawba County residents in Hickory, NC at the Drendle Auditorium, on Thursday, August 24th, 2023.

Dear Ones,
2/18/2023

We have made so much progress since the beginning of this year. We have our Editor, our colorist, sound engineer, and our composer! We are doing big things and I need additional funding, please

Good Grief aka The Grief Sister is a story about sisterly love, reminding us that those we love never truly leave us.

Here is the link to the teaser:

Cast and Crew Information:

The film is directed by award-winning director Shane Andries, who is a an alumnus of The University of North Carolina School of the Arts and currently writing film projects for Disney.

The film also stars Billy Magnussen, who has been in such films as the latest James Bond film NO TIME TO DIE, the Soprano's prequel THE MANY SAINTS OF NEWARK (as "Paulie Walnuts") and is the star of the HBO series MADE FOR LOVE.

The short film has completed all of its photography and is in the editing and post-production phase, which would include adding original music.

Our goal is to have the film completed this year and submitting to film festivals while also using the film at fundraising events around both the Hickory and South Carolina areas to benefit organizations like Hospice, given its message about coping with grief.

GOOD GRIEF AKA THE GRIEF SISTER is looking for assistance and financial support in order to complete work and become a reality. If you are interested and able to help support this film, please make a donation to the production of the film.

All supporters will be recognized in the film's closing credits.

I am so grateful for all contributions and know,“Every Day is a Day”
Love, Love, Love,
Meg

OH MY GOODNESS!!!
The teaser for Good Grief aka The Grief Sister is here!
I am so thrilled to share this sneak peek with you and SO grateful to our cast and crew. What a glorious group of people to work with and share this incredible shoot. My first filming and I certainly hope, not my last. This experience has stretched me and helped me find joy in the sadness. I have relived moments and reveled in the shared love and memories.

I want postproduction to have the same level of talent this short deserves; therefore, I am still fundraising. I am in the process of applying for several grants and am hopeful we will raise at least $40K for postproduction; which includes, but is not limited to:
Picture Editing, Sound Editing, Music/Score, Visual Effects, Sound Mixing, Color Correction, Graphics, Marketing, Festival Prep, Fees, & Attendance.

Please consider making an end-of-year or beginning-of-2023 contribution to GoFundMe. If you want more information about how to make a TAX-DEDUCTIBLE contribution, please contact me or visit my website at carolinamooncreative.com

So very grateful, so very humbled, and excited about 2023 and Doing Big Things with this short. We are already planning 3 screenings in the Carolinas to raise funds for Hospice, Cancer Research, and the Arts.

Dear Ones,

Postproduction Begins on Good Grief aka The Grief Sister.
Filming concluded 11/21/2022.

There are so many people to thank. I’ll begin with the Charleston Minnies: Mary Anne Snyder, Joan Brown, Jeanne Powers and her daughter Catherine Scarlett and our “two little sisters”, Mary Gadsden and Virginia Scarlett. Joan Brown’s granddaughter, Maddy Wood, is making her first short film acting debut.

The support from the Low Country/Isle of Palms/Charleston/Trident Technical College/Windjammer has been humbling and beyond kind. Garc Osborne is a one-of-a-kind gem and everyone should go to Windjammer to enjoy their legendary hospitality, view, and superior service.

Our leader, our beloved Director, Shane Andries, is a gentle professional and soon-to-be giant in this industry. His words, energy, and talent brought out the very best in each of us. This experience has been a joy because of Shane

Our talent, Billy Magnussen and Jayne Brook went above and beyond, to mentor and guide all of us. I can’t wait for you to see their performances.

Our Director of Photography, Ian Mosley-Duffy, is a gift to any project. His quiet expertise and leadership provided us with ongoing excellence shot after shot after shot. His team worked tirelessly and allowed our short to blossom and flourish.

I’ll write more as post continues. If you haven’t and you’d like to contribute, I’d be more than grateful. We continue to accept donations on the website carolinamooncreative.com. The GoFundMe project will officially end 12/20/2022.

I appreciate all of you for your words of encouragement through texts, emails, cards, and calls

October 2022
I am writing this update to see if we can raise $7,000 which is $2,000 more than the stated goal. We are so close to covering all production costs and I am so appreciative of your gifts!!!

With less than a week to leave for the Low Country of SC, I am so humbled by the response for my short film, Good Grief aka The Grief Sister.

I believe it does give hope in sheer moments of despair. Taking care of a loved one is an honor and sacred. Moments spent together filled with silence, laughter, suffering, and finally the emptiness of death, the ending of a shared life. We go on. We cope in many ways. Mary Mallette supported my dream of being a creative-a writer and beyond. I know she is with me. I feel her daily and in my dreams we walk the beach again together

First Appeal and Background:
I have always been a writer. In recent years, I have chronicled my journey with my sister, Mary Mallette, throughout her original diagnosis in 2015 with Breast Cancer and 2019 diagnosis of AML due to her exposure to chemo and radiation from Breast Cancer treatments. As you all know, she died on July 8th after a VALIANT fight, and a LIFE WELL LIVED AND WELL LOVED.

Part of my self-care and therapy is writing, and I have picked up our abandoned story from 2015 entitled, The Grief Sister. I had to put it down because real life was too hard, and my choices were to stay in ALL the moments we had together.

I have completed the screenplay or an adaptation of our story together. It is fictionalized. The working titles are The Grief Sister and, currently, Good Grief. I said originally it was about death and dying, but my mentor/classmates disagreed. Ela says it is a love story; about women and how we love one another. It is a love story about two sisters, and I have to say now, I agree. A universal story of hope, one of humor (Dear God, M2 was THE funniest person I have ever known!!!), one of grace and grit, intentional love and respect.

I hope you will consider donating. Grateful, humble and thankful for your consideration.
