The Duty's Medical & Family Fund
Donation protected
Emerald Isle Police Officer, Tom Duty was involved in a boating accident on September 7, 2016 near Swansboro, NC. He was taken to Carteret General Hospital and from there, airlifted to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC. His condition has improved from critical to serious during his stay at Vidant but he still faces several medical challenges; the most severe being the inability to feel or move his legs. It is too soon to tell if he will regain use of his legs or not but regardless, he is facing a long and difficult road to recovery.
Tom's wife, Elizabeth, a nurse at Onslow Memorial Hospital is pregnant with their first children...twins due in February 2017.
Both Tom and Elizabeth have chosen careers that allow them to give selflessly each and every time they put on their uniforms. No one ever deserves to face this kind of difficulty, but least of all these two wonderful people that spend all of their time helping others. The struggles they will be facing during Tom's recovery is more than enough for them to worry about without the added stress of medical bills and preparing financially for the arrival of their babies.
The PTO and Short Term Disability income they are currently receiving will eventually stop but the bills will keep coming. Any funds that we are able to raise will help the Duty's to pay for Tom's medical bills, living expenses, and necessities for the babies. Hopefully, we will be able to raise enough to allow them to focus 100% on Tom's recovery.
Please consider donating to this remarkable family. If you are unable to donate, please take the time to share this fundraiser and help spread the word. Prayers and words of encourgement, support, and love are also greatly appreciated.
