We are asking you to help us, Colton, Lindsay, and our Catahoula dog, Chaser, with our six month journey on the Appalachian Trail. Any and all donations, no matter the amount will be greatly appreciated and will surely help us along the way.
We will be hiking 2100 miles starting from April 2012 and ending in September 2012; Springer Mountain, Georgia to Mount Katahdin, Maine. It will require everything in us to make the trip; physically, emotionally, and financially. We have saved some money for gear but there is still a long way to go.
The money collected will go towards food, clothing, gear, and all other travel expenses.
We are doing our best to collect food for the trail already but we have hardly dented what it will take for the whole six months.
Clothing, including footwear, will be somewhat unpredictable. 3 to 4 pairs of shoes is assumed for the journey as well as unpredictable weather patterns in the peaks of the mountains in which we will be traveling. Appropriate attire is a must.
We have most of our gear minus all the necessary camera equipment as Colton will be filming the trek for a documentary-style feature for a chance to see where all your donations have been spent. Colton will also use his filmmaking skills to use the film for festivals and other sharing purposes.
Travel expenses cover the trip to the start of the trail and the flight back. As we said, our dog, Chaser will be a large part of our journey and he will often cost the same amount as one of us but is worth every penny.
Supporters can also help by following our blog, www.theclimbtokatahdin.blogspot.com
. We are gonna keep everyone posted on when we'll be traveling through towns that have mail drops. Anything you'd be willing to send, from cards to food(perhaps some Tony's), would also be greatly appreciated.
Again, Colton will be filming this and anyone who donates 20 dollars or more gets a complimentary copy of our filmed adventure PLUS you'll get your choice of an 8"x11" watercolor from anywhere on the Appalachian Trail you choose painted by Lindsay.
Thank you all for your support! We'll see you on the trail!
