Brewster Sisters Sparring for Gold
Donation protected
Megan (16), Ella (13) and Hannah Brewster (10) from Stouffville, Ontario, are Canadian Taekwondo athletes with big dreams. What started as an after-school activity with Stouffville Taekwondo Karate (STK) in 2012 has turned into so much more. After testing for their black belts in 2018, Megan and Ella were invited to start high-performance training with Young Choung Taekwondo Academy. Since then, they have been training six days a week at the Toronto-based headquarters.
In April, the sisters competed in the 2022 Canadian National Taekwondo Championships. All three girls medalled, with Megan and Ella placing first in their divisions and qualifying for a place on the national team. They now have the exciting opportunity to compete for Team Canada at the Cadet & Junior Pan Am Championships in Costa Rica at the end of June, and the World Championships in Bulgaria in July. They also compete in several international competitions throughout the year to build their game experience and further develop their skills in the sport.
All three girls have big dreams of representing Canada at the Olympics one day, but as you can imagine, this will be an expensive journey. The Pan Am, World Championships, and the international competitions are all self-funded. Each event costs around $2,500 per athlete for flights, accommodation, meals and registration fees.
Our goal in running this campaign is to raise funds so that Megan and Ella can attend these events. All of the funds raised will cover costs for the upcoming Pan Am and World Championships and any international competitions planned for the rest of the year.
We are so proud of the girls and their recent achievements and are excited to see them compete in their first events for Team Canada! Thank you for contributing to their taekwondo journey and supporting their dreams on the road to the podium!
