Update from July 2017:
Tara Hughes has recently updated us on some developments regarding her battle with liver cancer (update below). We will be praying continually for her every step of the way. Additionally, We (anyone who loves Tara) want to show her our love and support through a puzzle (pic in comments) that will serve as a reminder to her that "the best is yet to come." A puzzle is symbolic in a few ways. We all know that a puzzle is not even a puzzle without all of its pieces. This shows that our support and encouragement to Tara is strongest and most effective when we all band together. In 1 Corinthians 13 we are taught that "love always protects... it always perseveres." We want Tara to know she is loved and supported and that we are praying protection around her as well as helping provide her with the most effective medical care possible. In addition to praying for Tara, if you would like to further your support of her in helping us fund this puzzle, a minimum donation of $50.00 will purchase your piece. Your name will be written on your piece, and the completed puzzle will be given to Tara. Please continue to read Tara's updates on how to specifically pray for her. **Of course any size donation is accepted and appreciated, the puzzle piece just requires a minimum of $50**

Tara's most recent journey has taken her to MD Anderson and Johns Hopkins for 2nd and 3rd opinions. As we are all well aware, insurance is a tricky thing! MD Anderson is out-of-network for Tara and the cost of travel in addition to the medical expenses add up!

Tara's most recent update:
Friends! It's been a while since I've given an update and while I had hoped I could have shared news of continued healing and recovery I was given another dose of news a few weeks ago that I've let sit just for a little while as I process.

I spent time in NYC at the beginning of July for follow-up and the typical slew of scans and lab work and appointments! Unfortunately the doctors shared with me that my cancer has indeed returned (less than 8 months post-op) for a third time and I have several spots within my liver and metastatic spread to one lymph node. Since I've learned of this news however I have celebrated my 32nd birthday and have been reminded time and time again how precious this life is and how wonderfully loved I am by my family and friends!

This third time is a bit harder to swallow - I'm not sure exactly how to explain it but if I could try, I would say that I'd just like to pretend that I'm not here again, facing this cancer and the decisions that come along with it! While my care in New York has far surpassed previous care and I love my surgeon and his team, it's time for me to continue seeking additional options and potential treatments so we are looking at 2nd and 3rd opinions. As I've mentioned before, I get the "special" and rare kind of cancer that currently does not have a cure and most doctors know very little about what may or may not help so we will continue on this journey and see what's next! I have an appointment scheduled with some of the best at MD Anderson in early August and am awaiting an appointment confirmation with a team at Johns Hopkins as well. I'm not exactly sure what the future holds or what treatment/surgery looks like but I've got to pick back up and start somewhere so here we are!

Your prayers are coveted and if I may make a specific request, I ask that you pray for wisdom, discernment and timing right now! My hope and my trust are still in God and Him alone and for now I'll take it day by day!

I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.
Psalm 27:13-14

Lots of love and thankfulness!
