Theatre For A Cure
Donation protected
Several years ago I began working towards bringing theatre to Stafford. It has been a long and difficult endeavor. This project now takes on extra meaning now. Several years ago one of my old drama instructors from high school, Chris Dennett, was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. Through 30 years of teaching she made an impact on hundreds of kids. She was a hard nosed, old fashioned teacher who took what she did very seriously. Theatre went from being something, for me, that was just for fun to a passion of mine meant to be taken seriously. So here we are...
The goal now, while a permanent theatre presence in Stafford is the ultimate, is to make the first production something truly special to honor her. Part of the revenue from the production will be donated to Alzheimer's research and secondly there will be a scholarship created in her name for a Stafford High senior in the drama club.
So many of us have lost loved ones to this terrible disease, I personally lost my Grandmother to it, and we need to continue bringing awareness so that one day there may be a cure.
