Theater van Vrienden. Ukrainian theatre in Amsterdam

Hello!

We are a group of Ukrainian refugees who came to the Netherlands due to the war.

We didn't know each other before, but we met in Amsterdam and found many talented people among us. So, we came together and created 'Theater van Vrienden,' a place where Ukrainian refugees can meet, make art, and unwind.

This year, we are starting the fourth season in our theatre. We have many exciting plans. This time, we are working on a performance called “Kunstgalerie”. We created this play with the Dutch people in mind, as a way to thank them for all the kindness and help they have given and continue to give to Ukrainians.

In this performance, thirteen of the most famous masterpieces of Dutch art will come to life — works by artists such as Van Gogh, Vermeer, Rembrandt, Frans Hals, and others. All props, costumes, and decorations are purchased by our theatre team with our own funds. That is why we sincerely ask for help from anyone who can contribute.

The main idea of our project is to preserve creative Ukrainians, to give them the opportunity to shine and to share Ukrainian culture and art in Europe. Oksana Borbat founded the theatre studio and is our Creative Director.
