I am a life-long multi-disciplinary artist, with a 20+ year history of theatre as a process for community engagement, collective imagination, and social change. My work in Portland, Oregon has included collaborations with: neighborhood associations, student groups, immigrant day laborers, bus riders, bus drivers, farmworkers, medical students, artists, and members of houseless communities (here's some bits of a panel discussion of my artist residency at Bud Clark Commons).

I plan to present "Theatre as Collective Imagination" at The Nature of Cities Festival, in Berlin, June 2024, as well as in virtual format in April. This is part of an international festival with the theme "The Space Between Dreams and Reality is Action."
At this festival I'm looking forward to sharing theatre as a process for inspiring and encouraging collective imagination and action. I hope to learn from a wide range of creative artists, scientists and urban planners, to explore possibilities that expand our collective imagination about our responses to climate change, and to the challenges our cities face.

I look forward to collaborating with local organizations in preparation for this trip, as well as reporting back afterwards, and engaging local folks who are interested in this work.

I am asking for support for $1500 specifically for the airfare to Berlin. I've applying for a travel scholarship to help cover additional costs, such as lodging and local transport in Berlin.
Estimated Total Costs of this trip:
Airfare Pdx to Berlin: $1500
Thank you for your support and interest in this project! If you aren't able to contribute funds, please feel free to share, and to contact me about possible opportunities for collaboration.
with much appreciation,
Tamara
