Help Us Keep the Teal House Theater Studio for Refugee Children Alive
Imagine a child who has lost their home, friends, and familiar life. How can we help them feel safe again?
After Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine and due to the oppressive regime in Belarus and Russia, thousands of people fled to Poland, including many children who lost everything they knew.
In response, we created Teal House, a foundation that helps refugee artists continue their work and integrate into a new environment and all the refugees to blend into a new environment through art.
One of the foundation’s most important projects is the Theater Studio for Children and Teenagers who lost their homes. It is a safe space where children can express themselves through creativity, cope with stress, and build new friendships. Their parents have to deal with thousands of routine matters, finding jobs, settling in a new place, finding new doctors, and learning a new language. Not much time is left for investing in their children`s development. Here is where Teal House, with its team of brilliant young artists and other theatre professionals, can help.
What Happens in the Studio?
Acting classes, imagination, and focus training – help children develop confidence, teamwork skills, and self-expression.
Screenings and discussions of classic world cinema foster artistic appreciation, critical thinking, and cultural awareness.
The musical-rhythmic performance "Language of the Blue Sky", created in our studio under the guidance of Ivan Vyrypaev, was a unique collaboration between children and professional musicians.
✨ We are now starting a new production and continuing to explore theater as a space for freedom and self-expression.
What Kind of Atmosphere Does the Studio Create?
We provide a supportive and welcoming environment where children can speak freely, express their thoughts, and be truly heard. Our theatre studio offers a safe, inclusive, and liberating space — a much-needed haven for children and teens who have been uprooted from their homes and disconnected from their communities. We help them finding new friends and mentors.
"I felt emotionally numb, drained of motivation and direction. At first, I came to the studio just to try once, then I came again… and I don’t know why, but here, I truly feel at home." – Studio participant.
How Are the Funds Used?
✅ Teal House covers rent, cleaning, and studio administration.
✅ The funds we raise go directly to paying teachers, most of whom are displaced artists, buying costumes, and providing professional training for children.
✅ Playwright, director, and Teal House founder Ivan Vyrypaev teaches children for free, helping them discover the world of theater and art.
How You Can Help
$5 – covers one hour of classes for a child
$35 – supports a whole week of classes for one child
If you subscribe for a recurring donation of $70 per month and we find 30 such donors, each of you may tell yourself that there is one child whom you personally help to recover from a traumatic experience of fleeing their home.
It’s not just about classes — it’s about trust, care, and space to belong.
Every donation matters! Help us keep the theater alive for these children who need it the most.
THANK YOU FOR CARING!
