Hello everyone! We are PAILLETTE THEATER! We are based in Berlin and we are planning an artistic residency and community events in Marseille centered about our show SLEEPLESS (originally "Schlaflos" in German). As we dive deeper into this project, we couldn’t help but wonder:

What happens when theater and techno collide?

What if the night wasn’t just a space for partying, but also a realm for creativity, exchange, and reflection on our society?

With our new project, Theater Meets Techno, we aim to explore exactly that. This unique endeavor stems from our theater piece SLEEPLESS and combines art, electronic music, and community engagement. The goal is to merge theater and techno while creating something entirely new together with the community.

OUR GOAL

By March 31, 2025, we aim to raise 2,500 euros to make this project a reality.

WHY DO WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT?

We want to further develop SLEEPLESS by creating an original music composition and innovative lighting design that will intensify the atmosphere of the piece.

Theater Meets Techno is a crucial part of this creative phase, allowing us to experiment, build a network of artists and enthusiasts, and grow together.

Additionally, our musical director, Camille Roesch, will craft a unique soundscape that will accompany the piece in future performances. Our goal is to establish SLEEPLESS as an immersive theater production that we can showcase at theater festivals in France, Germany and Europe.

A RESIDENCY IN MARSEILLE IS A LOGICAL STEP FOR US

SLEEPLESS is a bilingual performance with French and German elements.
Camille Roesch lives in Marseille and brings a strong network and local connections to the creative scene.

Through workshops, discussions, and creative processes, we aim to not only perform a theater play but also foster a genuine intercultural exchange that strengthens the connection between Berlin and Marseille.

If we succeed, we plan to present the results of our work – especially the new musical composition – at a major event in Berlin in September 2025. There, we want to share the evolution of SLEEPLESS with a broader audience and celebrate in style.

THE PLAY: SLEEPLESS - THE FOUNDATION OF OUR PROJECT

SLEEPLESS is a performance whose first presentations took place in the fall of 2024 in Berlin. It's a theater project that explores the world of the night – between ecstasy and dizziness, freedom and loneliness.

The story follows a group of characters navigating urban nightlife: clubs, abandoned streets, improvised afterparties. They seek celebration, oblivion, community – or perhaps just themselves.

Inspired by Berlin’s electronic scene, the play highlights the many facets of the night:

The freedom and release found in dance, carried by hypnotic techno beats.
Fleeting encounters and the transience of moments.
The ambivalence between euphoria and isolation.
The social and political realities of the night: from inequalities, precarity, and consumerism to solidarity and safe spaces.

A COLLABORATIVE AND PARTICIPATORY PROJECT

It's more than just a theater play – it’s a platform for creative exchange and intercultural collaboration.

Marseille and Berlin are two cities known not only for their vibrant electronic and theatrical scenes but also for their diversity and the challenges that come with it. Both cities share common themes: social tensions, cultural variety, and a strong creative energy.

With our project, we want to harness these similarities and create an intercultural dialogue. It’s about bringing together people from different backgrounds – young or old, experienced or curious – and creating art together.

Our goal is not only to present a refreshed version of a theater piece but also to actively involve the community. Workshops, discussions, and joint creative experiments are central elements of the project. This will create a vibrant space for exchange, where theater and techno are not just consumed but co-created.

It’s not just about the performance; it’s about the interplay of people, ideas, and cultures.

HERE'S THE TEAM OF SLEEPLESS

Vincent Simon, Actor

Vincent Simon is a French director, actor, puppeteer, and educator who has lived in Berlin since 2012. After graduating from the Conservatoire d'Art Dramatique in Angers, he founded the Collectif Citron - Artistes Associés, where he gained his first experiences as an author and director. In Berlin, he initiated workshops on scenic research and led the German-French theater company Theater im Nu from 2018 to 2023, realizing about 15 multilingual productions.

As an actor and puppeteer, he has participated in productions by Drehbühne Berlin, including the Jungle Book and The Little Prince. In Germany, he regularly works with schools to teach French through theater methods and has visited over 200 schools. Together with Anna Mensonides, he founded in 2024 PAILLETTE THEATER, developing cross-border productions like SLEEPLESS

Camille Roesch, DJ & Musical Director

Camille Roesch, alias Racing Nokia, is an artist from Marseille: DJ, electronic music producer, artistic director, and actor. In 2023, he founded Minuit Rapide, a collective and music label that combines event organization and artist bookings. Camille oversees the team’s communication strategies and music releases.

His high-energy DJ sets blend trance, booty techno, and Latin American sounds, while his productions merge experimental sounds with powerful beats. Supported by DJs like SPFDJ and Salome, his works are released on labels such as Angels Gun Club. As an actor, Camille has appeared in theater productions and Netflix projects like Apnea.

In SLEEPLESS, he combines soundscapes with themes of community and loneliness as a live DJ and composer. With his unique style, Camille shapes the electronic music and creative scene.

Mathilde Roesch, Director

Mathilde Roesch lives between Berlin and Poland and has worked as an actress and director in Berlin’s independent theater scene since 2013. Since 2020, she has been part of the Nomadic Academy of Fools, founded by Jonathan Kay, which combines clowning, physical and emotional theater, and improvisation, performing across Europe. Since 2022, she has performed at Drehbühne Berlin, including as a puppeteer in The Little Prince and in Mauerland/Borderland.

As a theater educator, Mathilde combines artistic creativity with language teaching, such as through French-German fairy tales at the Institut Français Berlin or theater modules for youth groups. In 2023, she appeared in My Fake Birthday, a short film directed by Gregor Graciano. In 2024 she was an actress and co-author of the play Alors, on danse!?, performed at schools in southern Germany. Simultaneously, she began a project in Poland to inspire and support artists.

Anna Mensonides, Concept & Production

Anna Mensonides is a Dutch culture and events enthusiast who has lived in Berlin since 2015. After studying International Business and Languages, she gained experience in the cultural sector at venues like Monbijou Theater and Urban Spree. She completing her master’s degree in Experience Communication in 2021.

From 2022 to 2023, Anna worked as an event and marketing manager at Spok Sport & Kultur. She is currently the producer of the theater project SLEEPLESS, responsible for PR, marketing, and creative content. In 2024, she co-founded PAILLETTE THEATER with Vincent Simon, offering innovative workshops and productions like Alors, on France?!, aiming to foster international cultural connections.

Hallo zusammen! Wir sind PAILLETTE THEATER aus Berlin und planen eine künstlerische Residenz sowie Community-Events in Marseille im Rahmen der Proben für unser Stück SCHLAFLOS.

Was passiert, wenn Theater und Techno aufeinandertreffen?

Was wäre, wenn die Nacht nicht nur ein Ort zum Feiern, sondern ein Raum für Kreativität, Austausch und Reflexion über unsere Gesellschaft wird?

Mit unserem neuen Projekt Theater trifft Techno wollen wir genau das erforschen. Dieses einzigartige Vorhaben ist aus unserem Theaterstück SCHLAFLOS entstanden und verbindet Kunst, elektronische Musik und gemeinschaftliches Engagement. Ziel ist es, Theater und Techno zu verschmelzen und gemeinsam mit der Community etwas Neues zu schaffen.

UNSER ZIEL

Bis zum 31. März 2025 wollen wir 2.500 Euro sammeln, um das Projekt zu realisieren.

WARUM BRAUCHEN WIR DEINE UNTERSTÜTZUNG?

Wir möchten SCHLAFLOS weiterentwickeln – mit einer eigens komponierten Musik und einem innovativen Lichtdesign, das die Atmosphäre des Stücks intensiviert.

Theater trifft Techno ist ein entscheidender Teil dieser kreativen Phase. Hier können wir experimentieren, ein Netzwerk aus Künstler*innen und Interessierten aufbauen und uns gemeinsam weiterentwickeln.

Zusätzlich wird unser musikalischer Leiter Camille Roesch eine einzigartige Klangwelt schaffen, die das Stück bei zukünftigen Aufführungen begleiten wird. Unser Ziel ist es, SCHLAFLOS als immersives Theaterstück zu etablieren, das wir auf Theaterfestivals in Frankreich und Deutschland präsentieren und erfolgreich an Spielstätten anbieten können.

EINE KUNSTRESIDENZ IN MARSEILLE IST FÜR UNS EINE LOGISCHE ENTSCHEIDUNG

SCHLAFLOS ist ein bilinguales Stück mit französischen und deutschen Teilen.

Camille Roesch lebt in Marseille und bringt ein starkes Netzwerk sowie lokale Verbindungen in die Szene mit.

Durch Workshops, Diskussionen und kreative Prozesse möchten wir nicht nur ein Theaterstück aufführen, sondern auch einen echten interkulturellen Austausch schaffen, der die Verbindung zwischen Berlin und Marseille stärkt.

Wenn uns das gelingt, möchten wir die Ergebnisse unserer Arbeit – insbesondere die neue musikalische Komposition – im September 2025 im Rahmen eines großen Events in Berlin präsentieren. Dort wollen wir die Weiterentwicklung von SCHLAFLOS mit einem breiteren Publikum teilen und gebührend feiern.

DAS STÜCK "SCHLAFLOS" – DIE GRUNDLAGE UNSERES PROJEKTES

SCHLAFLOS ist ein Theaterprojekt, das die Welt der Nacht erkundet – zwischen Ekstase und Schwindel, Freiheit und Einsamkeit. Die Geschichte folgt einer Gruppe von Charakteren, die sich im urbanen Nachtleben bewegen: Clubs, improvisierte Afterpartys. Sie suchen das Feiern, das Vergessen, die Gemeinschaft – oder vielleicht einfach sich selbst...

Inspiriert von der Berliner Elektroszene zeigt das Stück die Facetten der Nacht:

Die Freiheit und das Loslassen im Tanz, getragen von hypnotischen Techno-Klängen.
Die flüchtigen Begegnungen und die Vergänglichkeit der Momente.
Die Ambivalenz zwischen Exaltation und Isolation.
Die sozialen und politischen Realitäten der Nacht: von Ungleichheiten, Prekarität und Konsum bis hin zu Solidarität und Safe Spaces.

EIN GEMEINSCHAFTLICHES UND PARTIZIPATIVES PROJEKT

Theater trifft Techno ist mehr als nur ein Theaterstück – es ist eine Plattform für kreativen Austausch und interkulturelle Zusammenarbeit.

Marseille und Berlin sind zwei Städte, die nicht nur für ihre lebendigen Elektro- und Theaterszene bekannt sind, sondern auch für ihre Vielfalt und die Herausforderungen, die damit einhergehen. Beide Städte teilen ähnliche Themen: soziale Spannungen, kulturelle Vielfalt und eine starke kreative Energie.

Mit unserem Projekt möchten wir diese Gemeinsamkeiten nutzen und einen interkulturellen Dialog schaffen. Es geht darum, Menschen unterschiedlicher Herkunft – egal ob jung oder alt, erfahren oder neugierig – zusammenzubringen und gemeinsam Kunst zu gestalten.

Unser Ziel ist es, nicht nur ein Theaterstück in neuem Gewand zu präsentieren, sondern die Community aktiv einzubinden. Workshops, Diskussionen und gemeinsame kreative Experimente sind zentrale Bestandteile des Projekts. Dadurch entsteht ein lebendiger Raum des Austauschs, in dem Theater und Techno nicht nur konsumiert, sondern gemeinsam gestaltet werden.

Es geht nicht nur um die Aufführung, sondern um das Zusammenspiel von Menschen, Ideen und Kulturen.

Bonjour ! Ici le "PAILLETTE THEATER" ! Nous sommes une compagnie basée à Berlin et nous prévoyons une résidence artistique et différents événements à Marseille autour de notre spectacle SCHLAFLOS ("insomniaque" en allemand).

Que se passe-t-il lorsque le théâtre rencontre la techno ?

Et si la nuit n'était pas seulement un espace de fête, mais aussi un lieu de créativité, d’échange et de réflexion sur notre société ?

Avec notre nouveau projet, Theater Meets Techno, c’est précisément ce que nous voulons explorer. Ce projet est né à Berlin avec notre pièce de théâtre "Schlaflos" à l'automne 2024 et il combine une performance, de la musique électronique et de l’engagement associatif. L'objectif est de mêler théâtre et techno pour créer, avec l’équipe et nos soutiens, une forme nouvelle.

NOTRE OBJECTIF

Nous visons à collecter 2 500 euros d'ici au 31 mars 2025, pour concrétiser ce projet et participer à son financement.

Theater meets techno constitue une étape clé de ce parcours créatif, offrant un espace d'expérimentation, de rencontres artistiques et d’échanges avec une communauté de passionnés.

Notre directeur musical, Camille Roesch, élaborera également une signature sonore singulière qui accompagnera les futures représentations de la pièce.

Notre objectif est de faire de SCHLAFLOS une véritable expérience immersive, à présenter en France, en Allemagne et dans le reste de l'Europe

POURQUOI MARSEILLE ?

SCHLAFLOS est une pièce bilingue, mêlant des passages en français et en allemand.

Camille Roesch vit à Marseille et apporte un solide réseau ainsi que des liens privilégiés avec la scène locale.

À travers des ateliers, des discussions durant le processus créatif, nous souhaitons non seulement présenter une pièce de théâtre, mais aussi créer un véritable échange interculturel, renforçant le lien entre Berlin et Marseille.

Si nous y parvenons, nous aimerions présenter le fruit de notre travail – en particulier la nouvelle composition musicale – lors d’un grand événement à Berlin en septembre 2025. Ce sera l’occasion de partager l’évolution de SCHLAFLOS avec un public plus large et de célébrer ce moment comme il se doit.

LA PIECE "SCHLAFLOS", à la base de notre projet

Les premières représentations de SCHLAFLOS ont eu lieu à l'automne 2024 à Berlin. C'est un projet théâtral qui explore le monde de la nuit – entre extase et vertige, liberté et solitude.

L’histoire suit un groupe de personnages évoluant dans le paysage nocturne urbain : clubs, after-parties improvisées. Ils recherchent la fête, l’oubli, la communauté – mais il s'agit aussi d'une quête très personnelle.

Inspirée par la scène électronique berlinoise, la pièce dévoile les multiples facettes de la nuit :

La liberté et le lâcher-prise à travers la danse, portés par des sets hypnotiques.
Les rencontres éphémères et la fugacité - la futilité des instants, parfois.
L’ambivalence entre l'exaltation et l'isolement.
Les réalités sociales et politiques de la nuit : des inégalités, de la précarité, la consommation de substances aux multiples solidarités.

UN PROJET COLLECTIF ET PARTICIPATIF

Theater meets techno est bien plus qu’une simple pièce de théâtre – c’est une plateforme d’échange créatif et de collaboration interculturelle.

Marseille et Berlin sont deux villes reconnues non seulement pour leurs scènes électro et théâtrale, mais aussi pour leur diversité et les défis qui en découlent. Ces deux villes partagent des problématiques similaires : tensions sociales, richesse culturelle et une véritable effervescence artistique.

Avec ce projet, nous souhaitons valoriser ces points communs et créer un nouveau dialogue interculturel. Il s’agit de rassembler des personnes d’origines diverses – jeunes ou âgées, expérimentées ou curieuses – pour participer ensemble à la création d’une œuvre artistique.

Notre ambition n’est pas seulement de présenter une pièce sous un nouveau jour, mais d’impliquer activement la communauté. Ateliers, discussions et expérimentations créatives collectives seront au cœur du projet. Il ne s’agit pas seulement d’une représentation, mais d’une rencontre entre les personnes, les idées et les cultures.
