Hi, I'm Loreli and I'm raising money for costs during my granddaughters cancer treatments.
A month and a half ago I discovered a hard, swollen mass on Thea's left cheek. My daughter Ashley and my husband Jerald, brought her to the ER right away. They didn't know what to think about the mass but thought she had an ear infection. The next day she was brought her to see her PCP. She said there was no ear infection but we could get an ultrasound done to see if there was any fluid or infection in her cheek. Ultrasound came back normal. Next step, ENT.
ENT didn't think the mass was related to her sinuses so they suggested getting a CT scan to get a better look at it.
So onto a sedated CT we go. When home from the imaging Ashley got a call from the doctor with results. It looks like the mass is interacting with her bone. We need a MRI.
We get sent to Children's ER that night.
Blood work gets done and we are admitted into the hematology/oncology unit so we can get an MRI and figure out what is going on.
During the MRI they also took a biopsy.
Yesterday we were told that Thea has B-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma, cancer.
She will need to get bone marrow biopsies done, a spinal tap, a PET scan, and get a port placed. She will also be getting her first dose of chemotherapy next week.
Doctor said treatment will take up to 2 years.
