Aloha everyone!
Terrianne here, it has been quite the eventful summer for us. Between two trips to Hawaii, first to be there for my mom when my grandpa passed away and the second for his funeral, I never expected to also spend 10 days in the hospital and have surgery.
Backstory:
On July 10th, we were celebrating the incredible life of my grandfather. As I was at the podium getting ready to give my remembrance speech, I fainted and went into cardiac arrest, or sudden death as the doctors would label it later on. Thankfully my family members jumped to action and began CPR. The mortuary also had an AED device that they used to shock me before the paramedics arrived. I am so grateful to have been surrounded by people who knew exactly what to do because they literally saved my life. I am forever grateful.
My doctors at Queen’s Hospital in Hawaii were finally able to diagnose my condition because I went into cardiac arrest. I have a rare condition called Long QT Syndrome. In short it is a disorder of the heart’s electrical system that can cause irregular and potentially fatal heartbeats. The recommendation to help with my diagnosis was to place a S-ICD (Subcutaneous Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillator) into the side of my chest. This device will deliver a shock to my heart to restore it to regular heart rhythm.
3 days in the ICU, 7 days in the cardiac wing, plus surgery and recovery time = over a month of no work for myself and Derrick holding down the fort on his own. It has been tough on us and now my medical bills are starting to arrive. Anything that you can donate helps us immensely and we are so incredibly grateful.
The money will be going towards paying for my medical bills. Once the bills are paid, if we have extra money we will be donating to the American Heart Association.
