I’m Alene Keenan, the Yacht Stew Guru. I was a yacht steward for over 2 decades, but a severe, progressive back condition ended my onboard career. I have compression and stress spinal fractures from many years of hard physical work, and I've been diagnosed with spinal stenosis and advancing spondylolisthesis.
During the recovery period of my initial diagnosis in 2[phone redacted], I wrote my first book, “The Yacht Guru's Bible: The Service Manual for Every Yacht”
My condition is deteriorating, and I’m writing another one. My goal is to publish the next book and build a business around it that will add as much value back to others and to the industry as I've received.
Luxury hospitality education is my passion now,
Self-publishing & printing my first book
was incredibly costly and time consuming. Because I am not blessed with a savvy literary agent or major publishing house to back my work, I’m hoping you’ll help me this time around.
My working title is “The Yacht Guru’s Book of Lists: Checklists, Schedules, and Systems to Simplify Life at Sea”.
I’m seeking funding to meet the costs of editing, self-publishing and printing as well as creating products & systems to improve service onboard yachts, estates, private jets, hotels, and other sectors of personalized luxury service.
As a best practices consultant to yacht owners, Captains, and crew, I see the need for something more, and I want you to be a part of it. My books and products will make it easy and affordable for anyone to master the details that make service the luxury it is meant to be. With the number of new people coming in who need training, now is the time to act so you can spend less time training and more time enjoying the fruits of your labor.
Many service professionals use my first book as a guideline. It is currently in print and found on every well-managed yacht on the water. You can order it at Amazon.com:
As an advisor, I contribute monthly columns to The Triton, Nautical News for Captains and Crews, the voice of the yachting community that strives to provide Captains and crews the information required to manage senior level service careers. You can find them at: http://www.the-triton.com/category/career/stew-cues/
I currently hold a position course-writing and teaching Yacht Interior courses at Maritime Professional Training in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Check out the Professional Yachting Association (PYA) approved 800-numbered Yacht Interior Courses I wrote and teach at http://www.mptusa.com
We offer beginner:
Yacht Interior courses, along with the STCW, US Coast Guard and MCA required courses to advance your yachting career.
Through my books, education, and consultation services my goal is to improve service on land and sea, by training and mentoring the next generation of service professionals and motivating them to achieve the highest standards. Please visit my website, www.yachtstewsolutions.com.
As a proud member of the time-honored steward department in the maritime industry, I am pleased to provide value and promote excellence in service in hotels, restaurants, estates, aircraft, and all areas of luxury hospitality, not just in yachting.
For every chief stew, solo stew, cook-stew, and deck-stew as well as Captains, owners, estate managers, and yacht management companies, this system is for you. So, get onboard…help me help service professionals serve you better, and help me publish my book and build a business that will help me keep giving back to the industry I love!
