After battling cancer for two years, Wyatt's journey is coming to an end. Due to job loss during COVID, he lost his life insurance through his job, and because of his cancer diagnosis, he is now uninsurable. We are starting a GoFundMe to help him provide for his wife and son still living at home.
Below are details and a letter from Wyatt.
Hello. My name is Wyatt Strickland. I am 49 years old. I have a wife and one child still living at home. I have decided to post my story here because I have Terminal Cancer. I was diagnosed with this in April of 2020. At the time I was employed and was covered by health insurance through my job. I also had life insurance through my employer as well. As you know at about the same time in 2020 COVID made the scene and complicated everything. Unfortunately I lost my job due to the COVID crisis. This happened as I was being treated for my cancer. Obviously this caused a problem for me in the way of resources to get care. The biggest concern I had was the fact that the only life insurance I had was now gone. And not only that but now I have an active cancer diagnosis which makes me uninsurable. Although I was able to get another job, my health has prevented me from continuing to work which once again makes me uninsurable through any stand alone life insurance. This is my hardship now. My doctor has given me about 6 weeks left to live. I do not want to pass on and leave my wife with nothing to pay for funeral expenses and doctor bills. So this is why I have turned to GoFundMe. I have faith in God that He is in control of our circumstances and that His plan is best. He has ordained my cancer and the situation we are in right now. It is this very reason that I feel led to ask that people would give toward this fund so my wife is taken care of when I am gone. Hebrews 4:16 says “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” We have sold everything that can be sold including downsizing our home so my wife will be in the best financial shape but I want to be able to reach the goal of the life insurance policy I had which was about $120,000. This should be enough to pay off medical bills, pay for the funeral expenses and hopefully to pay down the house so she can maintain her finances. I believe that God can use this platform to lay it on peoples hearts to take care of my wife when I go. Please consider a donation to this worthy cause.
Thank you so much!
